I'm 22, F.

I come from an extremely unstable background, full of all kinds of abuse and isolation. I didn't go to school from third grade until college, and I think I'm above average intelligence b/c at 19 I finished three years of hs in one.

I'm living with friends and doing really good in college. I have a counceller but she dosn't have "letters" after her name.

I don't have much life experiance but I do have mood swings. However, they seem to be constantly triggered, not spontaneous. If I get a good grade I'm extatic, but if a classmate name-calls me I want to quit school, or if someone teases me I yell at them very quickly. This can all happen in a matter of a few minutes.

Are they really mood swings if they are provoked?

Normally I'm just really happy which people find wierd.

i don't think anyone would like a bad grade or being called names. when u get upset or down about something do you stay that way for 2 or more days?

what does your counselor say?

mood swings can and often are triggered in some way. the trick is to get to know your triggers and learn how to be proactive and not reactive. ya know?

hope that helps.

My mood swings are sometimes fairly predictable. If I can avoid specific situations then the mood swings can be somewhat avoided too. Find out what triggers them and when you feel that coming on you can turn and walk away from the situation.
