Painful lump In armpit
Posted: 12-28-07 05:19am

A few days ago, I felt a lump on my right underarm. It's near the front and it hurts to put pressure on it. It's not red or anything, it just hurts to touch. It's hard but if I press on it, it softens. It's a little smaller than the size of a penny. It's also visible.

Last week, I put this cream under there because I get very dry skin and it gets discolored. I hadn't put it on in a while, because I forgot once it got better, but it was prescribed by my Doctor. The dry skin came back, so I decided to put it on again. So, before I put it on, I didn't shave because after I shave it stings when I put it on. So I put it on and left it alone. I didn't shave for a few days, all because of the cream, and then when I did again, the next day I found this lump.

Do you think it's because of the cream? Cancer? Or what?

I plan on asking my mom tomorrow, because she's a nurse and she could give advice, and then if it doesn't go away in a few days, I'll go to the doctor.

Also, should I be concerned? Should I continue to shave? Or leave it alone because it could be an ingrown hair?

Thanks. -Sara

Is it getting better, worse, or staying the same?
What other symptoms are also present?
