I'm 17 and i am sexually active. Me and my bf have been together about a year so its not that long, and i am hoping he is the one i will marry and have my kids with. But i was talking to my mom oneday and she said if i keep having sex at such a young age it will be really difficult or impossible to have a baby when i get older and get married is that true ?

from what it sounds like she's just trying to keep you from having sex. I've never heard of someone becoming infertile just because they had sex at such a young age. Honestly, 17 isn't too young in my opinion. My sister was 14 when she started and had a nice healthy baby when she was 24. Plus there's people that don't start their families until they are 40, so imagine how long they had sex...

I agree, it sounds as though your mum is trying to stop you having sex. There's no reason why you wouldn't be able to have a baby because you have sex as a teenager!

Unless you contract an STD/STI, there's no reason it would affect your fertility.

This sounds like fathers who tell sons not to masturbate, lest they go blind, lol. =)

Yup, and even then if it's treated early it may not have any effect on future fertility Smile

Lol, that's a funny argument. Definitely from a parent's perspective, there are reasons why you should wait to have sex until you are living with him actually ready to have children, but this isn't one of them and it's too bad that she couldn't think of a better reason than that.

It's funny how now that I am a parent I can see why they don't want their kids to have sex.
