PAIN MEDS
I have had neck and back pain for many years now. I am 35 and over the past month or so, my lower left back and neck have progressively gotten worse. I had to go to the ER last Friday and they gave me an anti-inflammatory shot, steroids and Lortab 10. The pain has not subsided at all. Is the next step Oxycontin? I HAVE TO HAVE RELIEF! I am walking hunced over and with a limp in my left leg because the pain shoots down my left leg. I am going back to the ER tomorrow to see if they can give me something else, something stronger or better than Lortab 10. I just dont know what to ask for. It sound like, from reading and others that I know who have back problems, that Oxycontin works. Is it really that good? I just CANNOT deal with this pain anymore and I dont know what to do or who to ask. I feel like when I see a doctor, that they tend to think that I am just "drug seeking", but I have genuine paine here. I cant function. Sometime I lay in bed and cry from the pain. What can I do? Does anyone have ANY suggestions? I am 35 and without insurance and I have Medicaid, but no neurosurgeons take Medicaid. With my disability, I cannot afford an MRI or a private doctor's visit. PLEASE HELP.

thank you,

It very will could be the next step as Oxycotin is a timed release med and works for twelve hours. Then Oxycodone is used for breakthough pain if the pain should come back before you twelve hour dose wears of. I am thinking about going to the path to be truthful. If the pain is that bad they may let a patient have a morphine patch which is also timed release. Oxy's are also called Percecset. Morphine is Dalodid.

Good luck,
I am having one heck of a time getting my new script. Medicaid is being a real )(*)**&&^^,,,,,,,,

Meds
Well, I cant find a Dr. in this small town that I am in and I am unemployed and on disability, so I have to to the ER again today as I am STILL in pain. I feel like a junkie asking for something or anything that strong, but I cannot deal with this pain.

Change in medications
I am now off both Oxy's and on Vicodin ES 10/660 four time a day. At least till after surgery and then probably put back on Morphine.

Did your neurosurgeon put you on the meds? I have an appointment with mine, the first, on Monday. He HAS to give me SOMETHING so I can function.

My regulare neurologist has me on Vicodin 10/660 right now. I won't know what the neurosurgeon is going to do untill I see him next Wednesday. Then will shedule surgery. Probably will be sometime in Feb or March.

Pain Meds
I was in the hospital this past week for a kidney stone and they put me on 100mg of Demerol every 2 hours and I was STILL in pain for my back and leg and neck. I dont know but I just thought that having Demerol would relieve SOME of my back pain and/or give me some sense of relief, but I was wrong. I have to get X-rays done Monday morning and then see my neurosurgeon on Monday afternoon. I am really nervous about this because my neck and back hurt so bad first off, and second because I start a new job on Thursday and I am walking with a limp because of the shooting pain in my left leg. I am hoping that the neurosurgeon puts me on a stronger pain med so I can walk normal and feel some relief. I had Morphine for my LAST kidney stone a few years ago and that was better than the Demerol, to me personally. I have also had Oxycodone for pain before and that is better than ANY Hydrocodone that I have taken. I am just nervous, I suppose and wondering what it is going to take for me to get some relief! I keep getting Lortab 10 and I take 4 at a time and that still doesnt do anything really. I have never had a Vicodin. Are they any good for pain? What is the difference between a Vicodin and a Lortab 10?

Hope they are working for you. You have to realize that everyones pain tolerance is different. Some high and some low. I have a very low one. I though the Oxycotin and Oxycodone would do it. But changed over to Vicodin and it is working much better for me and longer. So it depend on the person and the amount of pain you have and the amount of pain you can tolerate.

I wish you the best and hope you can find a Dr. you can follow up with. That is so very important.
