Lyrica
I had to stop Lyrica due to side effects, affecting my abilities to function and concentrate at work..I will say that in the short time I took it, it really seemed to decrease the pain level. If you can take it, you are lucky...

The doctors tried me on Cymbalta after the Lyrica failed. Unfortunately, this one I could not take either. Too many side effects interrupting with daily function. Today after seeing a rheumatologist, he tells me that I do not appear to be a FS patient, and that he is baffled by the multitude of symptoms I have. His recommendation is the Mayo Clinic..That may be my next step. Today is a bad day, and regardless whether you have fibro, chronic fatigue or any other immune disorder, it hurts, it's real, and those us who deal with it, are on your side. Just wish some doctors would get on board and help...Kim

I've never tried lyrica and I don't think I ever will unless they reformulate it to make it safer. I found a forum about it and almost everyone reported massive weight gain 20-50 lbs in just 2-3 months. It makes most people crave sweets and carbs. Even people who work out contstantly and dieted would gain weight instead of losing. It can also cause blurred vision, which for some people occurred like 2 days after taking it and didn't get better when they stopped taking it. Lyrica can also cause severe swelling.

Sure some people might like it, but after what I've read, I'm too scared to try it. I'll just stick with the fibro pain, thank you.

I had to stop it because of the side effects, It did work with the nerve pain but the weight gain, the severe swelling and depression that it caused were to much for me. I'm now trying Tegratol, have been on this for two weeks so will see how this goes.

I have been hearing that a lot of doctors are pushing lyrica even if their patients don't really want it.

Update on me:
As of last Friday my lyrica dosage was upped once again. I am so discouraged because I am actually feeling worse.
And I have found out just how expensive lyrica is and that our insurance won't help us with it.
My doctor has mentioned trying cymbalta.
I just feel so defeated right now.

Well, keep in mind that your doctor can suggest treatment, but he's not in your shoes. You can demand to be taken off Lyrica.

Today I signed up with Curves, I've heard that their program is supposed to work well with those like myself who have fibro. I've put on so much weight since getting married. I will not risk gaining more with Lyrica. All I know is that the more I weigh, the more I hurt. So, I'm hoping and praying that Curves works for me.

I hope that you all find something to help you.

God Bless,
Miranda

Lyrica for fibro
I have had fibro for 8 years. Tried all the anti depressants, the neurontin, and the lyrica. Nothing has worked for the aches and pains. I have a rule...a 3 month rule. If I dont feel substantial relief in 3 months, I'm off of it. I have tried a new (old) drug and I think it's working for me. It's low dose naltrexone. You can check it out at www.ldninfo.org or www.lowdosenaltrexone.org. I am on month 1 and I have no side effects and I think I feel better. Good luck with whatever you decide to try!

I had an allergic reaction to Lyrica, it was the worst experience in my life with a medication. I would advise anyone who is going to start a new medication to take it when someone is home with you in the event you have a bad reaction.

Hope you all feel well.

Hi
I also tried Lyrica--side affects were too much for me..I am sensitvie to most medications and will be trying out for a pain pump again in near future..I tried the pain pump last year and ended up with a twenty four hour epiurdal headache and had to stop the trial..They had to draw blood and do a blood patch to stop the pain..That was the worst headache pain ever..

Try Yoga
Hi, My doctor thinks I have Fibromyalgia and I think he is correct. However, I refuse to take any of the meds.(Lyrica or Cymbalta) I woud almost rather have the pain then to deal with the side effects of gaining weight and hallucinatine. Cymbalta made me see things and hear voices at night. I also cut both of my wrists in my sleep. The best thing that I have found to help me with Fibromialgia and other problems is yoga. Many of our symptom flair up from stress and the yoga class takes you away and gives you the release you need as it teaches medidtation and relaxation, breathing, and the stretching exercises help with the pain and stomach issues. My yoga instructor taught us an exercise to do that will relieve stomach cramps and help going to the restroom easier and it works. I have also lost some weight exercising and eating healthier. My main focus in my life right now is to get better so I can return to my life.
