Q: Pain On the Left Side of the Back

My husband had a pain in his back a few months ago on the left side of his back. He had ice and adjustments and it went away. Now, for the past couple of months is back and he is misserable. He went to the Chiropractor to do the same thing and it didn't help. Went to the doctor and gave him pain killers and desinflamatories, it didn't help. We are down to an accupuncturist with herbs and its helping but its not going away. He woke up the other night with a hot flash and it went away. During the day went to the bathroom and pooped something but we don't know what it was. He didn't keep it or looked at it. He feels a little bit better but the pain still there. The doctor doesn't even want to bother with it. I want and MRI but I seem the only one that is worried about it. Any suggestions??? Sitting is the worse position, diving it hurts; he has to have his arm upwards. Laying down on his stomach is bad too. Laying on his back only but on ice. Sad

I have the same lower back problem. It starts in my lower back and runs around the side of my waist. I had gone to a chiropractor-that was a joke. I also was given muscle relaxors and ibuprofin for the pain-that didnt work.I think my last resort would be to take an MRI of the area to se if anything shows up. I know what your husband is going through, it seems to be the same condition through what I have read. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions but I felt I needed to tell my story and I wish your husband well.

Does he have a history of kidney stones? Has he seen a urologist? My back pain is caused by kidney problems. An IVP (X-RAY) can rule out kidney problems. That's what I had. Hope he feels better soon. Good luck
