blood & mucus
HI BlndRxn,

I had the SAME thing happen to me! I took HydroxyCut for one month in March. Had the mucus stool, oily discharge, the whole unpleasant and frightening experience. Chalked it up to eating more fiber, taking a fat flusher (thermogenic such as HydroxyCut) and eating nuts - which produce an oily stool. I stopped taking the diet aid the end of March. Nothing else happened and I was of course relieved.

I had dropped about ten pounds when in mid-April I had a "false" stool. All blood and mucus, no actual stool. It was so scary. I had another one the next day. Called the doctor, of course had to wait a week to get in then had to wait two to see the GI doc. Now it's been two and a half months since the blood incident and although there has been NO more blood or mucus, I am having a Colonoscopy done tomorrow.

Obvious changes in the stool - especially when there has never been abnormalities before - and when there has been blood - need to be investigated. I am sure it's nothing but I am not down with funky stuff in my stuff - if you know what I mean?

I think you should definitely get another opinion. Check with your insurance about self-referring yourself to a GI doc in your network. Look one up and make an appt. The tests are not a picnic, are expensive but I am so glad I'm having it because peace of mind or a plan of action otherwise is priceless Smile

Good luck!

Well, I had a colonoscopy done. I am waiting for biopsy results to come back. So far I'm told I have ulcerations in my large intestine. Do to what? Who knows?? I still have NO clear answers... I really suspect that I have some type of bacterial or parasitic infection. The only things that had changed around the time I started noticing any problems was around the time I started that diet pill- (also, I had the flu about a week later from the start of that diet pill which could have thrown my immune system for a loop) If the biopsy shows evidence of an infection, that would settle my mind (mystery solved- and so much better then the alternative diagnoses- Crohn's or Colitis) So Frustrating!! I just want some solid answers already.

Same symptoms but also HUNGRY CONSTANTLY
I am having the same problems as most have stated here. I just went to the dr yesterday and he sent me to the lab. Now I have to send them stool samples. My primary doc said I need to see a GI doc. I actually went to the doctor because I can't get enough to eat. I am hungry ALL THE TIME. My stomach actually growls. I will wait for the results and hopefully something can be figured out.

That's too bad, what sypotoms are worse for you? If you are hungry all the time, are you eating a lot? Gaining/losing weight? Hopefully they figure it out soon to get you back to normal!

Update: I got the biopsy results back-- Ulcerative Colitis. :`( I hope it goes into remission for a long long long time...! Ever since I started the treatment my doctor put me on (Canasa) I've been having worse syptoms, actually. I have had up to five or six BM's a day, and some with bad abdominal cramps. Anyone else having this?

AND pregnant of all things.
All great information. As for me, my symptoms are similar with one complication: I'm pregnant. This all started around the time I found out I was expecting, in July, and I am 33. I have never had any health problems before of any kind, but started noticing some diarrhea with mucus-y bits. It just started to get worse over time, but doctors wouldn't see me because no one wants to risk working on a pregnant woman. Then a few weeks ago bright red blood entered into the equation, and most times it's just mucus and blood, with no stool. I have changed my prenatals 3 times, no major changes in my diet. My stomach sometimes rumbles so loudly I worry about my baby's hearing; isn't that silly? I finally found a doctor willing to see me, Friday, so crossing fingers. I really hope this isn't too serious because alot of the treatments are not available to me till after I give birth next year.

Aw, I am SO SORRY for you!!! See if your OB can run a whole gammot of labs on you- maybe that will point you in the right direction! (Along withyour other doctor. Heck, give them each other's numbers so they can confrence over it! It's their job, but you have to introduce them!) Ask them if they can test you (sorry, it is more blood work...) for auto-immune disorders and maybe you could go from there. They should also see if you are becoming anemic, since you have blood in your BM.
Please remember, KISS. This could also just be a simple case of hemmroids- a common thing during pregnancy.

Above all- do NOT stress. You do what it takes to calm your inner self for the sake of your baby. I understand you are concerned about him (or her!) hearing your belly growl over and over, but remember, the baby doesn't know any different- it's just going to be another soothing womb noise. The baby will feel your bloodpressure rising because youre upset. So breathe.
*hugs* hope this helps. Good luck, and keep us updated.

Similar symptoms
Hi, I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago after a colonoscopy showed that my bowels were very clean. Since a month ago, I started being constipated, getting a lot of gases and feeling bloated. Everytime I went to the toilet I used to expulse some mix of mucus, then blood and then small and very solid stools. No pain at all and It happened 3 to 4 times a day. I went to the doctor and he though it was Colitis, so he gave me some pills. I also had a general sexual helth check up to exclude any STD, and I was completely clear. I finished the 10 days treatment for colitis, and now I dont get bloated, nevertheless, when I go to the toilet I first expulse some sort of liquid, that goes to the bottom of the loo and it looks like brownish or light yellowish sand, then I expulse a few gases, and then very small stools with less blood. therefore, symptoms are improving, anyways they are still there!, what should I do?

I remember when the woman who is bleeding for twelve years and hopelessly consulted many doctors,....that touched the cloak of Jesus because of faith, and get healed. Though we can't see or feel the Lord's presence,....God knows your burden and He is willing to heal us, if we ask Jesus in prayer through faith,as His promised to be He is our healer to those who believed in His name. For nothing is difficult to Him and He is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
