I am bi-polar since november of 2003
i am currently on 40mg of lexapro
12.5 of paxil cr
1mg of clonopin
and a moodstabilizer (just started -4th
week 50mg) lamictol
and 15 mg. Of adderall
the lexapro, the paxil and the clonopin I
take at night before I go to bed.
The thing is sometimes - like today - I
feel sad. Like something is missing.
Is this because of the meds I am on and
may be one is not agreeing with the other?
I was seeing a psychiatrist - who put me
on all of the above.
But I recently am not seeing her - for she
refused to put me on a mood stablizer (the
hospital did) and I didnt like her methods
anyway - so I don't see a new psychiatrist
til may. That is why I am asking this
question on line. Could you answer this
question or can someone out there can?
I really don't think I need the paxil cr -
is that what is bringing me to feeling sad
and wanted to cry? I look forward to a
response

I've been on meds to treat my bipolar
illnes for four years and been on most of
the meds you have listed. You mentioned
you think the paxil cr is making you sad
... In my opinion no ... Paxil is an
antidepressant (ssri) that should make you
feel better.
One thing that helped me was a light box.
It is pretty much a very bright florecent
light that helps people that live in areas
with little sun. I don't totally
understand how it works, but I sit
infront of this box for 30 mins a day
usually during the winter time. I feel
like an iguana ... Lol ... But it works.
Maybe since you dont have an appointment
until next month you can get out in the
sunshine for 20-30 mins a day and even ask
your dr next month about a light box. I
wouldn't mess with the meds yourself
though.
Hang in there ... You'll feel better
soon
i hope this helps...

I am bipolar and was diagnosed 8 years
ago. I am on lithium 450 mg and depakote
1000 mg. Both of these seem to help
quite a bit. I am also on the paxil cr
12.5 for anxiety and panic attacks. I
would agree that the paxil should help you
feel better. You should be seen by a
doctor that will listen to you and address
any of your concerns. I have found these
drug combo to work great for me. Tell me
more about your sadness. Has anyone
suggested where it might come from? Do
you notice a pattern of when it comes? I
have found that a daily journal helps me
watch for my highs and lows. Maybe it
will help you.

Bi-polar is manic depression. So the
depression is a natural progression of the
disease. I have taken lamictal and 50 mg
is only a get going dosage. The lowest
normal dose that someone would normally be
on would be 200mg a day, and that is very
low. So as soon as you have been taking
it for a while you will start to feel alot
better. I found it to be a great
releiver of symptoms without too many side
affects.
