I am a 46 yr old gay man who was diagnosed with parkinson's in 2000. I would like to make contact with another gay man or lesbian that has parkinson's simply so that I know someone else is out there who maybe can relate to my perspective.

Although I have not been diagnosed with it, my grandfather had it, my uncle and my mother have it.I am a gay man and sometimes have trimmers and I feel the onset.I am 49 and although I have not been diagnosed yet,I think its coming.Maybe we can start a communal chat together? Any one interested?

PD
It is difficult to begin. I have had PD for about 12 years now since I was first diagnosed. I am now 63. I live with an excellent companion who makes things easy for me and I am able to do my work as a teacher, to do extra work at home, etc. I had to increase slightly the amount of medication a year ago and in spring (i.e. now, too), I usually feel a bit worse. I feel wonderful in the Canary Islands where we spend about a month each winter. There is some gay life and one feels relaxed, which helps. I am ready to answer any questions including the "problematic" ones.
Greetings,
Acuario

Best thing I can offer is looking on Yahoo's Groups website. You can find a group for just about anything, really, and you might be able to find people to talk with there.

It also sounds as though it's the start of a chat group here as well, so maybe exchanging e-mails, telephone numbers, Instant Message screen names, etc. can start things off Very Happy
