Q: Lengthy Question About Gonnorhea.

I went in for a routine pelvic exam in the beginning of October this year and showed up positive for gonnorhea. I was shocked because I've been in a monogomous relationship for 3 years and have been 100% faithful and so claims my partner as well.

I was treated immediately with 1000 mgs of azithromycin and another unknown injected antibiotic (I'm in the middle of getting my medical records together so I'll know soon).

My partner was tested for gonnorhea at a different hospital and came back NEGATIVE, so red flags were raised.

Two days later I'm became VERY sick. I had a 103.5 fever for a week straight and I felt like I was dying. I broke out in a rash all over my body and had severe abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea and weakness.

I went back to the doctors again and they retested me and I came back negative for gonnorhea although I was still suffering from the fevers and other symptoms. I was given an ultrasound and sonogram and everything came back normal. I then went in for a cat scan and a colonoscopy and they found out that my glands in my large intestine were extremely inflamed. My gastroenterologist said that the antobiotics for the gonnorhea were most likely the culprit of my illness although he didn't seem 100%

They perscribed me MORE antibiotics which I didn't take because I was afraid I'd get worse.

When I finally got better, both my partner and I got retested for gonnorhea since we've had sex since I was first diagnosed with it. We both came back negative which confirmed my concern of a mix up in the lab at my doctors office. If I had had it in the first place then my partner and I would have been passing it back and forth to eachother and we BOTH would have shown up positive at our most recent re-tests.

What my question is, is it possible for azithromycin or the antibiotic injection that was wrongfully given to me back in October a probable cause of the high fevers, rash and severe abdominal pain? If so, I will be filing a medical malpractice suit.

Sorry this is such a long post, but thank you in advance to anyone who reads this and/or answers my question : )

why file a suit? different meds can have side effects and yes this is possible ut it might not be anyones fault
that was the way YOUR body reacted to the medication. everyones bodies react differently

Well my medical bills are the number reason why I'm trying to sue, not to mention I thought I was going to die.

Plus someone made a huge mistake with my diagnosis and this whole situation would have never happened if the person who was handling my tests would've paid attention to my information.

thats true i can understand thatbut a lawsuit may just be a huge waste of time (not to mention more money) because
1. it takes forver
2. these bmedical companies have big time lawyers
3. they could just say it was a side effect of the medication which in this case wouldnt get them in any trouble at all

they most likely will not have to pay one dime and youll end up wasteing even more money

You do raise good points, but I have a lawyer whos looking at my case pro bono. But that's why I came here to see if it was just a side effect to the meds they gave me or if something really bad actually happen.

Either way, I don't really care seeing as how I was never supposed to be given them in the first place... very confusing : /
