Can anyone give any advice on this topic? I have had 4 grand mal seizures in my entire life (am 28 years old) with my last seizure being over 5 years ago (have not taken any medication in over 10 years because the seizures are so infrequent).

Now I want to get my driver's license, but my doctor refuses to sign off on a medical report to allow me to do so, even though I have not had a seizure for 5 years and have not needed meds. Does anyone have any advice for what to do? I live in Illinois, and I know that in most states you only need to be seizure free for one year....what do I need to do to get approved to go get my license????

I am so frustrated because I don't have health insurance and I cannot afford to go out and get a bunch of tests without the insurance. Any advice would be so appreciated......

My husband has seizures. They took his away. I think it's a good thing. My mother-in-law had a friend who had been seizure free for five years. Then, one night he was coming home from work and had a seizure and crash into a tree. He was killed. I have been in the car with my husband when he had a seizure. He was driving! It's scarey. You have to think about the other people in the other cars on the road. Would you be willing to put them in danger, just to be able to drive?
