So...it's Zoloft For Me
Posted: 12-20-07 18:52pm

Lately, I've had increasing incidents of panic and anxiety (nothing specific I can pinpoint, though having a baby is a major change of events), so yesterday, my OB gave me some Xanax to use on an as-needed basis (I had to see the OB because I have a UTI as well--it's really not recommended for breastfeeding). I thought it might be OK if I needed it the way I had pre-pregnancy (1-2 doses every 3-4 weeks), but this morning and today, the same thing happened. I called my OB who phoned in Zoloft for me. I really didn't want to have to go back on meds, but I think it best that Tessa has a mommy who is functioning instead of feeling panicky all the time (which also makes it hard to fall asleep when I do have time to sleep). DH seemed against it at first (Effexor really messed me up), but I'm not generally a complainer, and he knows I wouldn't have asked the doctor for something unless I felt I really needed it. When I was in labor and having contractions, DH said he never realized how painful it was for me because I would just try to breathe & talk through them and he only realized when we got to the hospital & I was 5 cm dilated and pronounced ready for the epidural by the nurse. I hope the Zoloft will kick in quickly.

But otherwise, things are going well. Tessa is a sweetie. One night, she screamed her head off because she was having gas pains (we think), but otherwise she is generally easy to soothe while awake. Breastfeeding continues to go well, and she's getting much more alert. Lately, she realized she can see with her eyes. Often, she will stare at lights or faces with her eyes wide and bug-eyed and you can tell she's just amazed. I love watching her look around.

it takes about 2 weeks for it to kick in... also, it caused me to have restless leg syndrome so i stopped taking it. Be careful.
