Sinusitis is usually difficult to treat.
Sinus infections are commonly caused by viruses, which do not respond to antibiotics.
Have you been tested for bacteria in your nose?
Is this condition lasting for longer than 4 weeks?

A black eye is a relatively common result of injury to the face or the head, and, often is considered as a relatively minor injury (healing on their own in a few days)
When did you injury your forehead?
Did you lose your consciousness after the trauma?
Have you noticed some vision changes, too?

Hello guys.

I'm 16 years old and for the past 2-3 months I've been getting pain behind my eyes and I feel as though my nose has alot of pressure. My nose is often blocked and some times it can be pretty hard to breathe down.

I've also been getting toothache and my tooth isn't even cracked or rotten. I read that toothache/jawache could be a symptom of having a problem with your sinuses.

I get pain at the back of my eyes and some times in my temple. It hurts near enough all the time, even when I wake up. It also feels that there is alot of pressure.

I have a cold aswell at the moment so that isn't really making it much better. Sad

I am really worried now as I read something about sinus cancers.

Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I had the same thing just recently but I acted immediately and went to several doctors...i think you may have CLUSTER HEADACHE.

Cluster or Migraine: Watery Red Eyes And Migraine Headache Difference
There are many symptoms experienced by an individual who is suffering a migraine headache. Some of those symptoms can include a severe headache, extreme sensitivity to light and sound, nausea and vomiting and double vision. However, the symptom of watery red eyes and migraine headaches are not often associated with a migraine.

On the other hand a headache with the symptom of watery red eyes and migraine headache sufferer not having this symptom is a cluster headache. Although, it would seem that a severe headache is a severe headache, it is important to tell the difference between a migraine headache and a cluster headache. This is because, unlike a migraine headache, a cluster headache comes in clusters. This means that once a cluster headache has been experienced another one will follow almost daily over a period of eight to ten weeks.

Therefore there are many differences between cluster headaches and migraine headaches. Probably the best way to differentiate between cluster headaches and migraine headaches is that cluster headaches cause watery red eyes and migraine headaches cause double vision. This simple fact of difference between the two headaches is based upon the difference of where the epicenter of the pain originates.

The Difference Between Cluster Headaches And Migraine Headaches

Migraine headaches are severe headaches generally experienced by women. This type of headache can be brought on by a number of triggers. Some of those triggers could include stress, the eating of certain foods or disruption in one's normal routine. One such disruption could be the loss of sleep or excessive sleeping.

On the other hand cluster headaches are generally experienced by men. In addition, migraine headaches are generally felt somewhere within the head and cluster headaches begin behind one or both of the eyes. This location for the onset of a cluster headache is what often causes watery red eyes and migraine headaches start in the head and spread outwardly from there. Another difference between the two types of headaches is that there is nasal congestion associated with the cluster headaches and watery red eyes and migraine headaches have no nasal congestion.

Also, cluster headaches often have their onset when the sufferer wakes up from sleeping. That is why many individuals who suffer from this debilitating headache try to avoid sleeping. However, this tactic simply increases the severity of the pain.

In addition migraine headaches are usually hereditary in nature and can be linked to another abnormality within the human body. On the other hand cluster headaches do not appear to be influenced by any diseases or illnesses in the body. In addition, there doesn't appear to be any correlation with hereditary in regards to experiencing cluster headaches.

Onset Differences Between Cluster Headaches and Migraine Headaches

Unlike a migraine headache which gives advance warning to the sufferer, the onset of a cluster headache comes without notice. Generally, the cluster headache starts suddenly and the pain quickly intensifies.

Treatment Differences Between Cluster Headaches And Migraine Headaches

Both types of headaches can be severe enough that they warrant strong pain medication to help control the pain. However, with cluster headaches the pain is so severe and can continue over a longer period a quicker method of accessing pain relief is recommended.

Therefore, doctors will often prescribe the medication that can be used through an inhaler device or pain medication that can be injected using a needle and syringe. Also, it has been found that the use of an oxygen tent can help to reduce the pain.

Continuing problems

Hey, I've got similar problems that have advanced a little more than what others are saying here. I'd appreciate some help too, but through my ordeal, I've gained some info that may help others.

Firstly, I've got chronic allergic sinusitis; 7 years now and getting worse consistently. The cartilage in my nose has been pushed aside by the swelling and has fused with the bone making it very hard to breath through my left nostril. Appearance wise, I don't look any different.. the 'damage' is internal only.

I have no sense of smell anymore, but it does come back occasionally for a few hours or a day or so at the most. The pressure behind my eyes, nose and upper jaw is quite intense. Luckily I had a tooth pulled out that severed some nerve pathways which lessened the pain from this.

The pain in my head is here daily (on painkillers much of the time). When it's bad, I will have a point of intense pain in the center of my forehead (just above eye level) with everything radiating from that. It gets so bad that I cannot move.. This also comes on quickly. If I'm not already on pain killers, it's too late. I fear this pain immensely.

I am now suffering some vagueness in vision in my left eye which I believe is also related to the pressure (currently waiting for my new doctor to assess my records - moved house). And I am suffering from a loss of mental focus - is the best way I can describe it. I feel like I am loosing my intelligence. Whether this is from loss of blood to my brain, or simply the pressure, I don't know. But even normal conversations are starting to cause me trouble; fumbling with words, loosing track of the topic, making incorrect connections, etc.

So if anyone has any advice or help.. it would be appreciated. But first I'll describe what has been tried (and this may help others with their problems).

I have tried antihistamines of varied sorts and strength to no avail; as my condition is allergy based. While I can moderate my food intake (avoiding those that cause problems), I cannot get away from anything airborne which seems to be enough.

I have tried steroid nasal sprays, but they have not helped. They only get so far into the nasal cavity, especially if it is mostly blocked. Continued use simply starts bleeding and more pain.

Saline sprays have also not helped; but have been easier to use consistently.

Lastly, a steam bowl with peppermint, tea tree, and eucalyptus oil has been another attempt. All to no avail.

I was told that I could get an operation where they could scrape out all the built up junk. But this would only be a temporary solution (because it's allergy based), and each time I got it done, there was a chance of permanent damage such as blindness. Something I have not been keen to try.. but am starting to have second thoughts on lately.

So here I am.. looking for advise online as my doctors and specialists either don't know how to fix it, or don't care enough to take the time to listen to me, rather than talk about how *treatment* I've already tried will work with continued use - despite me doing it for years already. I could go on for ages about how many doctors I've been to, and how poorly they've listened to and understood my explanations.

I'd love some help if anyone had any to give..

I have the same thing as well. I have pressure all around the bridge of my nose and forehead, also in my temples and sometimes pains in other parts of my head but have no congestion really. Is it possible to have a sinus infection with zero congestion?

I have had this problem for 3 months now and it is really getting me down. I have been on a 5 day course of antibiotics which didn't do anything, and have also been to the hospital afraid i had a brain tumour or something. The doctor there performed a neurological examination and concluded there was nothing wrong and suggested that it was sinusitis.

As I said though, the only thing confusing me about this diagnosis is the lack of congestion...

It is uncommon for sinus pain to be the only symptom from sinusitis, but it is not unheard of. If an isolated sinus becomes obstructed or infected, it can cause pain without causing nasal congestion or drainage.
Have you been done some examinations of your nasal and sinuses cavities?

well there is an update actually. went to see my doctor today and she advised that i don't actually have a sinus infection, but just some sinus congestion which is causing the headaches. despite the fact that i can breathe ok through my nose the majority of the time, i am apparently still congested up there.

i have been described some nasal spray and decongestants and have been assured there is nothing serious to worry about. that's a relief.

anyone else suffer from this strange type of sinus problems?

For how long you are suffering from sinusitis?
Was this preceded with a flu or common cold?

You can do some home treatment methods to help you with relieving the symptoms, like saltwater nasal washes and putting moist heat (using a hot, damp towel or gel pack) on your face for 5 to 10 minutes, several times a day.

Waiting for your post!

Today I went to see the doctor, I told him my problems and he treated me for hay fever and nasal congestion.

He prescribed me with some pills and eye drops. I hope these will make me feel better. Smile

Have you experienced some improvements since the beginning of the therapy?
Do you have symptoms of hay fever for the first time?

Sinusitis can be caused by allergies.

Hello,

After taking my pills and eye drops I have noticed a huge difference. I don't get pain behind my eyes anymore, and there is no more pressure when I bend over. Smile

I didn't even know I had hay fever until the doctor told me I did. Smile

Thanks

I'm happy you are feeling good!

Chronic sinusitis is most of the time caused by allergies.

Usually hay fever is seasonal, but it can last all year long if the allergen stays throughout the year. Spring and fall are the main hay fever seasons.
Stuffy and itchy nose is the most common symptom of hay fever.
When you suffer hay fever, your nose makes lots of mucus. This extra mucus can get trapped in your sinuses and get infected.

Have you been checked for nasal polyps (soft, noncancerous growths that develop on the lining of your nose or sinuses, which are more common in people suffering from chronic sinusitis and hay fever)?
Do you have some sleep disturbances?

Hello again, I don't have sleep disturbances.

However, the pain behind my eyes has started to come back on again and has been on for a few days now. I thought all was going well aswell. Sad

I'm going to finish this course of medication and return back to my doctor if the pain is still here after the full course.

Treating chronic sinusitis, especially one brought up by allergies, it's not so easy and, usually takes time.
You need doctor interested in your problem.
Hope everything goes well for you!

Hello again.

I went back to my doctor and he prescribed me a more potent antihistamine and some nasal spray.

I still haven't noticed any difference with this new medication, I still get pain around my eyes and face and I still get bad headaches.

When I shake my head from side to side, it makes the top of my head REALLY painful, do you have any idea what's causing this? Sad

Thanks
