Ok here's my story.... bear with me.... lol.

I'm a guy and about 10 yrs ago I was 5' 7" 217lbs.... I know wow!!!

Then I went on this crash unhealthy diet and 6 months later I was 5' 7" and at 140lbs. I know, I know, save the lecture.

At any rate, I have kept it off, here we are approx. 10 years later. I started working out about 2 months ago. My target area was to attempt once again to tighten and lose the excess "flab" from my stomach area. When I started working out I was at 150-155lbs

At any rate I started with cardio at the gym I attend. I run on a Nautilous Eliptical at a level 4 for 30 min. That would get me almost 3 miles. In the last 2-3 weeks I've decided to switch it up and start lifting to get a nice physic. Well to save time at the gym, I kept the cardio, but changed to 15 min. on the eliptical and upped the level to a 8.

With this I am doing machine lifting on crunches, chest lifts, overhead pull downs, curls, and finally I do manual dips and sitting 45 degree laid back kind of a sitting bench press with 30lb dumbells in each hand. I do this exact workout everyday on weekdays and rest on the weekends.

I've very happy with the tone and tight legs, but I am wanting to build my upper body to give me a good look. I just stared with the Creatine today and a protein shake right after my workout.

My biggest issue is the correct amount of food to eat? Like I mentioned earlier I was overweight and will not allow myself to get back to that. Basically I eat alot of fruits and veggies, but lack in other foods. Currently I am at 145lbs.

Ok, you specialist, hit me with your advice........ I'm here to learn!

Thanks in advance
Shawn

Spartan 117 to the Rescue...
Hmmmmmmmm....Upper body muscle tone eh?
1. Pushups seem to work for me, they might work for you too
2. Exercises that work the shoulders specifically seem to work well for me too. Try military press with dumbells. Another good exercise (which I don't know the name of) is holding a dumbell in each hand at waist height and then lifting ur arms (without bending at the elbow) so that they form a straight line.

Thanks for the advice, since posting the previous post, I've totally changed my workout. Just 5 min. of cardio to warmup and I started a 12 week program which hits a different muscle group daily skipping one day midweek for heavy cardio if I wish. Seems like every lift in the book is in this program. Looks like the full body is going to get a revamp instead of just the upper body. Probably should be that way anyways.

Thanks although!!
