I injured my ankle playing soccer about 4 weeks or so ago. I kind of stumbled and at the same time got the outside of my ankle kicked. This happened on a sunday. I went to the doctors on monday to get x-rays because I couldn't bare much weight on it and the pain was bad!! They said there was no break, and to come back in a week if it still hurts. It stills hurts to this day but I haven't gone back because of money, and not sure if I still have insurance. For the past couple weeks it still hurts to walk on, and now it cracks everytime I take a step. It hurts to bend upwards, downwards, and side to side. It's tender to touch in the back on bothsides, and the middle on top where tibia meets ankle. There has been little swelling, and little bruising, but the pain is still pretty severe!!! and walking makes the pain worse. What it going on... is it a sprain?? The doctor never told me, she just said I didn't see a break, come back in a week if it still hurts

Could you have a stress fracture? Those don't always show up on Xrays and you could need an MRI. When you say you stumbled do you mean you twisted it or anything like that or just tripped?
