I just started taking birth control today, a brand called cyclessa. There doesn't seem to be much about this pill but this is the one I was prescribed at planned parenthood. I have a few questions I hope you can answer for me. =)

1) the doctor at plannted parenthood told me I could start the pill whenever I wanted, I didn't have to be on my period to start. My last period came on aptil 6th and ended on april 13th. I asked if I could start on sunday (today, the 18th) and she said yes. I made it absolutely clear that I heard you had to start on your period or the sunday after your period starts but she said that you don't have to and whenever you start, it'll just end up pushing your period back. Is this true? How long will I have to use a backup method since I started this way? She said one week but the cyclessa website says for sunday starters to use backup for a month, although those sunday starters start on their periods. I'm so confused.

2) does anyone else take this pill? I haven't seen much about it and i'm really curious about the side effects. I didn't realize until looking around that dry contacts were a side effect of a lot of bc and now i'm really worried because I wear contacts daily-i rarely ever wear my glasses. What kind of side effects are normal with this pill? And how long does it usually take before side effects start appearing?

Thanks for your help! =)

I am not on this particular brand but I will try to help. Yes you can start taking the pill whenever and it will just push your period back. Use backup for as long as the particular brand says to. Side effects should start showing up right away (if you get any)
