I don't think that's anything to worry about. Erectile dysfunction means you can't get an erection on a regular basis. Merely losing one's erection when doing something painful or distracting sounds normal to me. If you really want to keep your erection while doing this, spend more time massaging the anus before insertion so it's really relaxed.

I think it all depends on your body. Everyone's different. Some guys need a lot of attention paid to their penis to maintain an erection. Some guys find anal stimulation good enough to stay hard.
