Breathing Trouble - worse after hysterectomy
Posted: 12-15-07 14:50pm

I'm 40 years old and have had this problem for approx 20 years. When
it started it was very sporatic, maybe a few times a year. Now I feel
like it's happening all the time. I feel like I hold my breath untill I have
to take a deep breath which is hard to catch. Last year I had a total
hysterectomy which sent me immediately in to menopause and since then the problem has gotten worse. I've had chest xray's, spirometry and
CT scan which were all normal. I'm a very high anxiety person, but I
don't feel like I'm anxious all of the time. I am a smoker, but I'm trying
to quit. Does anyone have this problem? It would be nice not to feel so alone, although I don't wish this on anyone.

Thanks, Calico

Do you get the feeling like you aren't able to breathe deeply enough?
Are you experiencing a lot of yawning and sighing, too?
Is this a frightening situation for you?

I do sigh and yawn more than is probably normal and it definitely creates
more anxiety when it happens. I have a lot of fear about dying and I
always seem to go to the worst case senerio.

Thanks for your reply,

Although, I'm sure your breathing problems are due to your anxiety, is good to know that some recent studies have find the link between estrogen, female hormone and respiratory functions. Clinical study results state that women who have not menstruated in more than six months have more respiratory symptoms and lower lung function.

Have a good, healthy day!
