Q: Doctor In Atlanta For Foreskin Unable to Retract?

I am a 29 year old uncut man and I have what I believe to be a not severe case of phimosis/frenulum breve. I can retract the my foreskin quite freely while even semi-erect - the only time it gets difficult to retract is when I am fully erect and then it goes back only very slightly.

To my examination, the point of tension is the short frenulum - the phimotic ring might be somewhat involved but because of the way it is attached, I think a Z-plasty or frenuloplasty might be required.

I have been to two specialists here and both are recommending a full circumcision. I want to avoid this drastic procedure if possible but doctors here in the south tend to favor a circumcision over less invasive procedures like a frenuloplasty.

Do you know of any doctors in Atlanta who are frenulum and foreskin friendly? If they are on the Aetna network that would be great.

I don't so I can't help all that much. But why don't you just be honest with the docs and tell them that's not what you want? At least try and see what they say.

I have - as I mentioned I went to two specialists and they both recommended circumcision - they did not even know the other procedures existed. I'm guessing the low occurence of uncut men and the even lower rate of problems with uncut penises may have had this effect.

Also, some doctors, in my opinion, are very pro-circumcision because that is all they know. Faith may also have some bearing on this. The jury may be out but I still want to keep my foreskin if I can help it.

Oh sure. All I'm saying is, why don't you say directly to the doc "can you fix this without cutting off my foreskin?"

Sometimes we have to be blunt with the docs. Their faith/bias should never effect your body.

Good point and don't think I didn't try - I did say that at no cost would I want to lose my foreskin and then the doctor actually got rude with me and said "Unless you go out on the street today and get run over by a car, by the time you are my age you will be circumcised"

I don't think you can argue with an attitude like that.

I am travelling to India over the holidays and hope to get this looked at over there - I'm sure a urologist has dealt with this several times as almost 75% of the population there (hindu and Christian) is uncircumcised with little exception.

I'm sure there are northern states that are far more liberal and willing to do less invasive surgeries; you don't have to go to India lol! I know you're going anyway but still.

Really! I can't believe a doc said that to you. If they really feel it's necessary they could at least explain exactly why.

Doc here would do it how you want it (in MN) I know that doesn't particularly help you.

Well my family lives in India so its not like I'm going there just for that.

But (and I'm sure I'm generalizing) but it sure would be nice to have some open-minded doctors in the South.

India?
Well, hey, I think I have the site for you. I found this awhile back, but assumed you wouldn't care to hear about out of country treatment because you specified Atlanta.

Medicaltours.com

This should give you information on hospitals that offer the kind of treatment you are looking for. I linked you right to the India page. The only problem is that you will have to register to find hospitals and doctors, but it should be free. I hope this helps.
