Miss Maria...

Im sorry to say this but you are wrong.
You need to become more educated in sexual health, and this would be the perfect place to do so.. as well as talking to your guardians (mom and dad, whomever raises and supports you.)
Having sexual intercourse, which is defined as "Sexual activity during which the erect penis is inserted into the vagina where ejaculation takes place" is the one and ONLY thing that makes you no longer a virgin. Not riding a bike, exercizing, using a tampon, masturbating, or watching people or animals have sex. A virgin is a person who has never had sex.. LOSING that means you have HAD SEX. Nothing less, nothing more.

Make sense?

Any other questions you have dont be embarrassed to ask.. thats what we are here for!

~Sandy

edited to add...

masturbation is NOT wrong.. self gratification has been going on for centuries, including in the *bible* days. Theres no shame in it and you shouldnt be embarrassed to talk about it or admit doing it.

Virginity has nothing to do with the hymen. What about guys? They don't suddenly lose their virginity when they masturbate so why on earth would women? It's tht old left over double standard and it's very harmful.

Having or not having a hymen doesn't affect your "virginity". Some women are born without hymens at all; would that mean the baby isn't a virgin? Of course not! Hymens are often broken during normal strenuous activities like soccer, horseback riding, swimming, gymnastics, inserting tampons, bike riding etc.

So even if you did break your hymen during masturbation, so what? To loose your virginity in MY book, you have to voluntarily let a penis go all the way inside of your vagina AND have sex. I don't think a penis going in once counts, nor does rape count. Many girls DO break their hymen during masturbation.

If you think about it, isn't it a lot more convenient and less painful to break it during masturbation? Who wants to bleed all over their lover their first time? Ick!! I didn't, but my hymen was unusual.

in response to some of the earlier posts, just curious what you think of gay people? for instance sandbox party referred to the quote: " "Sexual activity during which the erect penis is inserted into the vagina where ejaculation takes place" is the one and ONLY thing that makes you no longer a virgin.".....

if you are a lesbian, and therefore do not ahve sex including male genitalia, then technically, in your book, you'd still be a virgin?

which is completely ridiculous. just because gay people do not conform to the heterosexual confines of society does not categorise them as virgins. wake up.

Yeah, not sure how that works out either. If you're a career callgirl with 20 years in the porn indsutry but you don't do anal and oral and of course strap-on sex and and fisting for lesbian scenes then you're still virginal and pure?

Really at the point where you're having sex with other people you're not longer a virgin. Doesn't matter if it's vaginal, anal, or oral with a penis, finger, golden retriever or 14 inch reticulating strap-on Vibrating dildo. It is the act of physically consumating love that makes you no longer a virgin, not any kind of impact to the hymen.

There are different ways to masturbate, though. If you shove your fingers up there than yeah chances are it will tear. I have never tore my hymen, because I don't finger myself when I masturbate. If you dont want that to break, use your clit, it feels alot better, too. I started when I was 15, or 16. I'm not sexually active and I have never been so I do it often, about once a day to once every few days.

But yeah, you are a virgin if you have sexual intercourse...masturbating is not wrong. I am a Christian, and I actually believe that masturbation is an essential part of human sexual development. Masurbation is a way to acheive self-gratification without loosing your virginity and GIVING YOUR SEXUAL INNOCENCE TO SOMEONE ELSE. As far as I'm concerned, it's perfectly normal, healthy, and something that no one should feel ashamed or embarrassed about, at all.

I have talked to a lot of people some think it's wrong others don't personally I think it's fine to do. It regulates lust for those who don't wanna turn in their v card it releases endorphins to make you feel good. For women who have sex partners it can help you two become more familiar with each other in bed but most important it make you aware of how your body reacts to certain kinds of stimulants. Im Not sexually active with my current boyfriend but we have masturbated when the other is listening watching or even helping. It's one those personal preference things personally I think masturbating is a way to feel better about yourself and who you are as well if it's not comfortable the. Don't. Do. It!

I am a 20 year old virgin I have had the same lover for 5 years we do masturbate together and we don't have sex I have masturbated since 15 he has since he was 14

Enjoy life and maturbating

You have had a boyfriend for 5 years but have not had sex? you need to put out, seriously. Saving your virginity for Prince Charming and marriage is outdated. Your relationship will get so much better.
