So far Kaylee has one thing in her stocking & that's a little "The Night Before Christmas" book. What are some other things I can put in there to fill it up?

a toothbrush seems to be a popular item on my other forum.

finn's getting a small board book, a stuffed ernie doll (it's big, it'll take up a lot of room), a small pair of maracas, a wind up bath toy, a fuzzy wind up penguin, animal crackers and goldfish. i meant to get the the elmo in grouchland dvd but forgot, but he's getting a lot anyway so it doesn't matter.

Oooo! Toothbrush is a great idea! Adriana is due for a new one, I would have never thought of that.
I'll probably get some new crayons to put in her stocking and a couple beanie babies, like Pablo and Max and Ruby.

Hmm she doesn't have a real toothbrush yet, I'm still using the little infant ones that you put on your finger to brush their teeth with. A regular one might be a good idea though! I didn't think of doing animal crackers or goldfish, or anything like that really!

I bet she'll like it, Michelle! I let Adriana brush her own teeth, and she does pretty good for the most part. She doesn't really have all the back teeth yet...she chews on it after she's done "brushing" but she asks to brush her teeth. We have the toothpaste for little ones too, and she loves dora...so that makes it even more exciting for her. Gee, how cool would it be to get *that* excited over brushing our teeth?

Make ALL the things useful. Things you would have to buy anyway. Kids really don't care at this age. I know that may *seem* callous of me to say, but they don't. They'd rather play with the boxes everything comes in. Smile

A toothbrush is a great idea! So are the animal and goldfish crackers. I like to give books to the kids and, now that they are older, candy. Everyone always gets a new toothbrush (this year, it is one of those musical ones. Hannah Montana!), their own tube of toothpaste and some socks. But also something fun, like a deck of cards, a rubix cube, a key chain, etc. I'm too practical to fill it with gobs of candy and still more worthless toys. Smile

I'm glad you said that Ingi! I felt kinda mean for giving her a potty chair and undies as a Christmas gift, but I knew she'd have fun opening gifts regardless of what's in it.

I wish someone would get me a Hannah Montana toothbrush!
I got my brother a tee-shirt that says "I WISH MY SISTER HAD A MUTE BUTTON" or something like that (it's wrapped and I can't remember what it actually says) and my mom a coffeemaker (it's got a timer and such, so she doesn't have to start it herself) and my dad...well my dad's gift is that my stolen bike got recovered by the police and now we don't have to buy me a new one. That and I paid off his car for a month (Black Friday babysitting combined with a few other jobs. Cha-ching!)

Well, no. I got her a Wii and a bunch of games (I really hate to say how many, it seems like too much! I think I'll save some for another gift time.) But she also did get some jammie pants. Smile Um, a book on how to draw (which she'll LOVE!). A Mio pet. Some Bratz (2 boys, 1 girl and some clothes). Some Littlest Pet Shop toys and a Scene It Game (Nickelodeon Edition). We may also get her a guitar. We'll see. Smile

But my son did get some socks. HEH.

Do NOT feel guilty! Kids - especially very young ones 2 and under - do not have any idea what they are supposed to do at Christmas. Gift? Pfft, what are those? They just want to play with all this messy wrapping paper that is thrown all over! And the BOXES are heaven!

You could literally buy your kid a bunch of boxes and some wooden spoons and they'd be just as happy Smile Spend the money on necessary items you will use!

Trust me, there are dozens of more years these kids will DEMAND better gifts. Be practical while you still can. Smile

LOL we got my daughter one of those really cute kitchens, its in a huge box, and its been sitting in the second living room since Thanksgiving, she's never even looked at it haha. Not hidden or anything. Kyle is gonna put it together Christmas eve, she'll be super excited the next morning ^^

ingi, sometimes i forget you have a daughter! what's her name? (you don't have to share if you don't want to)

mandi, don't feel bad! this year christmas is more for me than for finn. he'll have no idea what's going on and i'm sure he'll lose interest after opening one gift. he'll probably spend the rest of the day walking around with discarded wrapping paper and empty boxes.

I LOVE the Dollar Tree. I can shop forever there for small stuff. I haven't given thought to stocking stuffer ideas but most likely candy and small practical things for the BF
