I had my little girls pierced when she was 3 weeks old. The only thing they wanted was proof of vacination which she had in the NICU. My mom says mine were done at 4 weeks, and they're still open even if i havent worn earrings in years. Go for it, baby girls are soooo cute with their little ears pierced ^^

eh.. i wont peirce Catys ears.. i think its sorta mean to put a baby in so much pain, plus u gotta turn them every day several times a day, and i just.. yeah.. She can wait til she can decide on her own to do it.

i thought about it before, then remembered how much of a hassle *I* had.. Sad

I wasn't allowed until I was a teen and iremember they got pretty infected, even though I was taking care of them. My girls won't be getting them pierced until they can take care of them, but my oldest is in Judo, so she may wait a long long time.

I remember being told that it actually hurts less than a shot. I'm not sure how true this is because I got my regular piercings at 1 month. My mother did it in the doctor's office because she didn't trust a jewelry store. The only piercings I've had since then have been cartilage and body and all as an adult, so I'm no help there.

I think it really depends.

They have to have had their 2nd month vaccinations here. But they don't ask for proof Confused

So, Jersey was 2 months old.

I didn't want to pierce my daughter's ears until she could make the decision. Wink

I totally agree! I didn't pierce Chyannes ears until this last summer when she turned 6. She wanted them so i said yes. But i won't do it with Sophie until she's older, and wants to make that choice on her own.

they don;t feel sooo much pain first of all. They are more offended and annoyed by being held down...

We got Kaylee's done when she was 8 months old, we would have done it way sooner but we were told she had to have her 6 month shots first.

i want to get jordynnes done but she is almost one, so i dont know how that works, i dont think it hurts all that much because they use the piercing gun its like a milisecond of pain. We would have gotten hers done soooner but the place we went to here wont do it until they are 3 but there is anothe rplace really close by that ihave to find that will do it , you just have to sign a paper saying they arent liable for anything, personally i think if u do it younger they are less apt to pull on there earings or something.
Poeple always refer to jordynne as a he , prob cuz ofher name and she has short hair also. I always have to correct people and say its a girl even when she has an outfit on with flowers on it!

*ahem*

"In research that has far-reaching implications for the medical and surgical treatments of infants, the scientists have found that newborn children feel pain longer and more sensitively. "

taken from http://www.euthanasia.com/chilpain.html

not trying to start anything, but thats the complete opposite of the truth.. I happened upon this article when Caitlyn was about 6 weeks old, doing unrelated research. I read it, looked into it, and said, "Nope, not piercing her ears."

well they have the same nervous system as an adult has don't they? wouldn't that mean they would feel pain?

for me, i wouldn't because i liken it to putting makeup or nail polish or a tattoo on a baby. it just doesn't look right to me. i think they're so perfect and innocent the way they are and i want to preserve that as long as possible.

but that's just me. i guess it's a cultural thing.

well plus my god daughters mom had Christina's ears pierced, and the stud actually got sucked into her earlobe and it got severely infected :'( She had to go to the hospital (which i had to take her because mommy and daddy didnt think it was a big deal) because her whole ear started turning red and was hot to the touch. They had to numb her ear and take it out and told me to tell mommy to NEVER put a stud in her ear again.

What does she do? Puts HUGE DANGLY like, 2 inch long earrings in her ears.
BAD IDEA.

HELLO, BABIES TUG!

I debated whether to get Alyvia's ears pierced or not. I decided against it for a few reasons. I was paranoid that, as her ears grew, the holes might become off-centered. I was also afraid that she'd tug on them and/or rip them out accidently or get them snagged on something. I'm going to wait until she's old enough to decide she wants them, but I respect other mothers who decide to get them done early. I had mine pierced when I was a child and I remember crying so badly and refusing to have my other ear done. I'm not looking forward to that.
