Did I Have a Miscarriage?

i've been missing my period for a month, i
woke up and i bleed all at once( it all
sort of flowed out ), but after reading up
on pregnancies it had said spotting and
bleeding can occur, and i was feeling sick
throughout the day. but later that day i
had two blood clots or bloody tissue fall
out. and now i have really bad cramps and
lower back and abdominal pain. did i have
one ? because every now and again i have
lower abdominal pain similar to period
cramps but worse. but no more bleeding or
spotting.
and if i did have one, when will my period
return?

Hopefully this was just a regular
period........Are you sure you were
pregnant? Most early term miscarriages
occur around 6 weeks.
If you are losing tissue, that means a
miscarriage, but you have to make sure
that's what it is. Sometimes it's hard to
tell the difference between an actual clot
and tissue...some clots are big. If you
call a nurse, they will say you are having
a miscarriage if you are losing quarter or
larger size clots, but they can be smaller
when you are very early in the pregnancy.
Pardon my description, but I will try to
explain: but a blood clot you can rub
between your fingers and it will dissolve,
and maybe feel a little rubbery, but
tissue is harder and can be actually torn
apart with a little effort. I guess you
could think of a thick piece of kleenex?
It's kind of like bloody skin and doesn't
dissolve like a clot. I hope this makes
sense.
I don't know if something whitish with red
in the middle would be a miscarriage. The
"baby" at that point is a small clearish
ball, about the size of a small pearl. If
that is what you saw, you may have
miscarried.

i didnt have a small clearish ball just
tissue, i'm pretty sure i was or am
pregnant because i took a home pregnancy
test... and as for the tissue or clot that
came out it might have been tissue the
size or a quarter just a little larger

I've gotten pieces of tissue before while
I was having my period. It was peices of
blood skin like you described that you
could tear. I've never been pregnant, so
I'm pretty sure that just because you see
tissue doesn't automatically mean
miscarriage.
Why don't you take a home pregnancy test
now. If it is positive, it doesn't
automatically mean you didn't miscarry as
you should still have a positive result
because of the hcg in your system, but at
least you'll know for sure that you were
pregnant.
Good luck hun! I'm so sorry you're going
through this

It's easy to miss.
That is really strange about the
non-miscarriage and tissue showing up. I
haven't heard of it before....but I guess
it happens because it did to you! Have
you found an explanation for that? It
sounds a little disturbing...I would freak
out every time I had a period.

You have honestly never had blood clots?
That is what this tissue is. Clots. A
clump of the endometrial lining that has
shed all at once.
Without having a confirmed pregnancy,
there is no way anyone can say if you had
a miscarriage or not. You'll have to go
see your doctor.

Whew, Ingi. I'm glad you confirmed that
this is normal. I was starting to doubt
myself if another woman had never
experienced it!
Thanks for being so knowledgeable. You're
like... budha or something

Yes I have.
Tissue is not a clot. A clot is
coagulated blood. If you put a clot in
water it will dissolve into thin blood.
Tissue will not dissolve and you will find
it hard to tear apart.
If you are in a regular period, you will
lose blood and blood clots: the "lining".
When you are having a miscarriage, you
lose clots, blood,..... and tissue that is
part of the placenta. It is this tissue
that is examined for the fetus, and to
make sure that you have had a complete
miscarriage.
If you have not seen the tissue before,
you might mistake a clot for tissue, but
when you do see it, you will know what it
is.

I've had tissue. I've had clots and I've
also had miscarriages.
Tissue can be present in the lining of
your uterus regardless of whether it is a
miscarriage or not.
From wikipedia: Menstruation:

tr> | many females also
notice shedding of the endometrium lining
that appears as tissue mixed with the
blood. |
The original poster did not have a
pregnancy test. The original poster has
not gone to a doctor and no pregnancy has
been or was confirmed.
The first thing I would do if I suspected
I was having a miscarriage - which can
result in hemorraging - is go see a
medical professional.

Actually, Ingi (I love your kitty btw),
the original poster indicates in her
second post that she did a home pregnancy
test which I assume was positive since she
said she's "pretty sure" because of the
test that she was or is pregnant

Hrm, I guess I didn't read that. However,
does it change my advice? Nope. I'd still
seek out a medical professional.
Interesting that she was only 'pretty
sure' about pregnancy considering
pregnancy tests are TRUE / FALSE. I've
never seen one come up with 'PRETTY SURE'.
Thanks for the
compliment on the kitty.

hm don't really appreciate this, i said
pretty sure because i am seeking medical
attention however it's only been a week
and a half since i took the pregnancy test
and i can't get into contact with either
of my doctors so i'm trying here. and
honestly i'm on here for help while i
search for a doctor or try and get into
contact with mine. and the pregnancy test
said positive. but i took it two days
after the whole thing i first posted
happened. so yes the hormone might still
be in my system, which might be why it
came up positive. so don't judge,.

Oops, sorry. I guess I did
miszunderstand. I thought you meant that
you had done the test before the abnormal
bleeding incident. Now I understand why
you weren't totally sure, because of the
possible lingering hormone question.

perhaps a second home test now while
you're waiting to see a doctor would be
more reliable

More reliable than the previous test, that
is, not more reliable than a doctor.
Thought I'd better clarify that. I think
I had a misplaced modifier. Poor sentence
structure can lead to more
miszunderstanding.

After my miscarriage, I got a positive
pregnancy test a few weeks later. Of
course, I was 11w 4d so I had plenty of
the hormone to get out of my system. My
symptoms included extremely light bleeding
and some back pain. The only way I was
confirmed to have had a miscarriage was an
ultrasound where there was an embryo
measuring 9w 3d with no heartbeat. I
didn't bleed or cramp badly until after
the D & C.
