I'm 24 I want to have kids around my 25 26 but since me and my guy aren't on the same page I'm on birthcontrol. I.ve been on the depo shot for a full year. I was watching tv and I saw this birthcontrol that's a little plastic implant that's shapped like a T and its implanted in your cervix by your doctor if I heard rite.

It can stay there for 3 or 4 years and during that time if your plans change and you want to try getting pregnant the doc can take it out. I like the shot cause its conveniant, but that's method sounds way better. I wouldn't be injecting myself with massive doses of the stuff every 3 months. I was thinking of letting my doctor kno to let me kno the risks of switching to that method of birthcontrol. Is anybody on it that could give me input?

I havn't had it and don't know much about it but going to your dr is your best option. From reading things on here I believe there are a few who have had it. Sorry I'm not much help.

The IUD? I was on it. Ask your doc- there are two types, non-hormonal and hormonal. The non hormonal kind is great because it doesn't have many side effects. The hormonal kind is a low dose of progesterone and will probably make your period lessen/go away. The progesterone one (Mirena) can be left in for five years, the non-hormonal (Para-guard) one can be left in for 10-12, I think. It's definitely something to talk to your doc about.

It hurt me, yes. But not so bad I wouldn't do it again. It didn't hurt at all to get it taken out.

Basically they lay you down on the table with your feet up in the stirrups. They first have to stick a ruler into your uterus through your cervix to see if it is big enough- which hurts (as much as the IUD does). The part that hurts is that they have to put it in through your cervix, which doesn't open willingly. Then they use a special applicator to place the IUD in.

I'd ask the doctor about it. The whole thing took about twenty minutes and I had my hubby drive me home. I took three aleve before the procedure, which I would recommend. I was a little crampy after, like period cramps.
