I had an ANA test that came back positive
for Lupus. When I went back for a second
test, I told the lab girl that I had had a
strong steriod shot only a couple hours
before in my hip for a problem that had
been going on for a year. (two different
doctor offices)
I asked her if this could effect the test
and she said no because she was not
checking white blood count. The test came
back okay and I was told to come back in 3
months for a follow up.
I have found out that steroids are used in
treatment of Lupus sometimes, so I wonder
if it could have effected the test??
I did ask for a copy of both test, and I
am considering going to a RA doctor with
it (this was a demotologist that I was
sent to for a rash on my my leg). She
said if it came back positive again, she
would send me to one anyway.
