Hi. I have had Ulcerative Colitis for about 3 and a half years. I am lactose intolerant and cannot eat wheat, corn, apples, lettuce, or any foods that irritate my stomach. Recently, though, whenever I have been sitting for too long, I tend to pass a lot of gas, regardless if I ate a lot or a little or what I ate or anything. When I started passing gas, if I got up right away, I would feel better, the gas would stop coming out, but I would feel lightheaded and somewhat dizzy. All the while when I was passing the gas, my stomach would hurt, regardless of if I was trying to hold the gas in or letting it out. I don't know what to do. I can barely stand it in places like school, church, movie theaters, or just at home on the couch. Walking around I am fine, but I can very, Very, VERY rarely sit for long periods of time. Sometimes it even bothers me when I am standing up in one place for too long. Also, I had gotten rectal bleeding at one point, but that had stopped after I added the rowasa enima every night to the 9 pills a day of colozal I was taking. Recently, though, even with all of this, I had the bleeding again. My doctor told me to double up on the colozal. I now take 18 capsule pills a day plus an enima at night. The bleeding has stopped, but the gas and the pain along with it has not stopped. My doctor is stumped. I also now get diarrhea all of the time, probably because my stomach is not used to all of the medicine. Help! What should I do?!?!?
