Can i have heart problems even though i have normal blood pressure that's anywhere from 117/74 to 130/84 normal EKG and EEG normal chest X-Ray and normal bloodwork? The reason i ask is i am always getting these sharp pains in my left chest area and from time to time i get pressure in my chest that goes all the way across my chest.I have been diagnosed with anxiety disorder but the anxiety (I think) is brought on by the chest pains. The chest pains really come out of the blue and take me by supprise and that's what causes the anxiety attacks because it does'nt seem normal and it really scares me.I am a 43 year old male non drinker non smoker 5ft 11in and about 220lbs which i have lost about 35lbs in the past 5 months, used to be about 255lbs.My mother who is a retired nurse say's i am crazy because all tests keep coming back normal but the pains i am experiencing are not in my mind, they are real and they are making my anxiety worse!!P.S. This problem has been going on for almost a year now and i am a generally nervous/tense person that finds it very hard to relax.

Me too. I have normal Bp reading of 120/65 and had a EKG done several months ago. Seriously, when I eat a fatty food I swear my heart is going to stop. It almost feels like I have a valve problem as I often get a weird beat followed by pain and a feeling like i'm gonna collapse. I swear when this happens my face turns a pale white. I never had any problems until I began taking a medication. I am off the meds now but I really think the drug messed up my heart! Yea, I really don't know what to do. My Dr. said if I have tests done it will make it very difficult to get life insurance cause companies will assume something is definitely wrong with me, therefore not want to insure me. Seriously what should I do? I know this is your thread but you are knowledgeable and I wish you the best. I wish I could help you.

Heart disease is silent - We have 13 kinds of cholesterol
We have 13 different kinds of cholesterol and most medical providers only look at 2 types. COnsider reading the book THE APO E GENE DIET - you can get it at BARNES AND NOBELS.COM . It explains the whole story. YOu can have a normal cholesterol level and still have heart disease - that is heart disease is genetic. But you can do something about it.

♥ A family history of heart disease is one of the most powerful determinations of coronary artery disease (CAD) risk. It is independent of many CAD risk factors including smoking, hypertension, diabetes and high blood cholesterol.
♥ 80% of heart disease is genetic.
♥ Atherosclerosis is a relentless, progressive disease if not treated appropriately.
♥ The most common genetic causes of CAD are not detected on routine blood cholesterol evaluations.
♥ Without knowledge of the advances in the field of lipidology and metabolism, many patients receive treatment that is of little benefit to their disease, despite improved blood cholesterol values.
♥ 80% of people with CAD have normal cholesterol levels.

Who Benefits?
Persons with the following characteristics could benefit from our comprehensive treatment.
One of the following:
♥ Family history of heart disease.
♥ Known heart disease
♥ A possible inherited trait
♥ Characterized by:
− Triglycerides higher than
140 mg/dl
− HDL less than 35 mg/dl
− Insulin resistance or diabetes mellitus
Or two or more of the following:
♥ Total cholesterol greater than 200 mg/dl
♥ LDL cholesterol greater than 130 mg/dl (100 mg/dl with
heart disease)
♥ Diabetes
♥ Obesity
♥ Family history of heart disease
♥ Systolic blood pressure greater
than 140 mmHg
♥ Diastolic blood pressure greater

I have same kind of problem
I am a 33 year old Male.. I have the same problems.. I used to drink and smoke but started having palpitations and shortness of breath. I quit cold Turkey and haven't drank or smoked for over 2 years.. But my life is a fraction of what it once was. I have constant shortness of breath, palpitations, skipped beats, dizzy spells, and most alarming symptom is fatigue, nausea and tight chest after physical labor or sexual activity. I have had stress tests, ekg, ultrasound blood work thyroid you name it.. all %100 normal. but I can't Last a busy day with out feeling sick and weak. Drs. have just shoved it off as anxiety.. I ALSO CHECK MY BLOOD PRESSURE WHEN I FEEL TIGHT CHESTED AND SHORT OF BREATH AND MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS ALWAYS PERFECT.. BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN.. ?? It really seems like I am suffering from some form of heart disease. I felt sweaty and fatigued and felt chest discomfort today after trying to pull start my lawnmower. Very alarming yet apparently there is nothing wrong with me.. Very Strange.. and Very low quality of Life.. ANSWERS OR IDEAS ANYONE ??

I am experiencing the same exact thing. I experience spells where I start to pass out and have to grab onto something and get an extreme head rush. I have never actually gone all the way out. If I do anything physical I get a throbbing feeling in my chest and throat. EKG etc... normal. They said at one point I had an inflamed heart but just pass me off as anxiety and act like it is no big deal. I am fatigued CONSTANTLY and NAUSEOUS from the slightest things. Quality of life is terrible! I am almost 31. I just had a cousin die of a massive heart attack at 40 years old just 2 weeks ago today.

Heart issues and pain
I have pretty much the same symptoms. Mostly tightness, pressure or pain in the chest, lower neck, center back and even down my left arm. At times i can feel the pain increase with my heartbeat. I have extra heartbeats, palpatations and anxiety because of these apparent heart problems. It's been like this for a few years now except for the palpatations, those I have had most of my life. I have had at least 20 ekgs done. Wore 30 day halter monitors. Bloodwork and ultrasounds done. Most of the routine heart work. One thing that I have found helpfull is working out for 25-30 minuets a day doing low to moderate cardio. But the biggest help has been stretching out, almost like yoga. Slow movements through proper stretching of neck, back, chest, hips, arms and legs. This has really helped ease the pain I have. But beware, the first 3-4 weeks will make the pain worse the day after working out. But for the first few hours after the workout, it feels better.

rapid heart rate, weakness, short of breath
I have had problems also with rapid heart rate while standing or walking...almost double the normal rate. The Dr. I saw was Asthma specialist and is very concerned because the weakeness and tightness in my chest is not asthma related.

My blood pressure is under control with meds and cholesterol is always good.

If you have a PPO plan, you can go to a cardiologist without a referral from your primary doctor. This is my next step.

i have had the same problems for two years now. i have gone to the emergency room 7 times, thought i was having a heart attack. i had chest pains, pain in my arms (mostly left) each time i went to the er they did xrays, blood work and ekg's. every time the tests were normal! i had an ultrasound of my heart and that was normal. the pain is still ruining my life. my doc seems to think its chostrochondrits, fibromylagia and anxiety attacks. i was told to take ibup. and use heat and ice. even with that diagn. i still think its heart related! not sure what else to do. all i know is im glad i found this site, makes me feel better to know there are others like me that have this pain.

Gall Bladder?
Some of you should have your Gall bladder checked. It can be low functioning and cause chest pain, lower left rib pain, back pain or shoulder pain. Fatty foods makes it feel worse and I've heard of a few people developing acid reflux when it was all a bad Gall Bladder.

Keith, I have the exact symptoms as you!! Have been to the hospital a few times thinking I was having a heart attack, had all the tests done. $16,000.00 in medical bills just to have the dr. tell me it's anxiety or in my head. I've had these symptoms for 8 months now, and am not getting any better. It's ruining my life and everyone around me thinks I'm nuts. It's usually worse in the afternoon/evening, and I have insomnia now because I'm afraid if I go to sleep, I won't wake up. Sorry I don't have an answer for you, wish I did. I have been looking up the symptoms for months trying to find an answer and am amazed at how many people have similar symptoms but are told they are fine. No one seems to have an answer as to what's causing this. The only thing I'm even close to finding is anemia or low thyroid levels? Maybe check those out? I started taking a ton of vitamins and felt great for about 2 weeks, then dive bombed back to the chest pain, heart palpitations and fatigue again. I am still taking the vitamins hoping I'll feel better again. If you find an answer or ANYTHING that helps please, please let me know. Thanks!

Panic no-more
My advice is to stop; take a deep breath; and just live for today, I have all the above mentioned symptoms, and all the crackerjack box doctors told me it was just heartburn, and depression and anxiety so I retired to "margaritaville"...after all I'm not here for a longtime, I'm only here for a good time...here's to budlight...best regards to all...

I am 32 years old just had the ekg and echo because I get dizzy and have a sharp pain on my chest. I have always worked out, I do not understand why this is happening to me, but it does bring your anxiety level to high. it really angers me off that i feel like that. I noticed on the soccer field while playing, got dizzy and felt like my heart was going to explode, and now I am afraid to run. but I will start running and push my self more and more, Sometimes I think it might be stress related I do have 2 jobs and attend college. Like someone else here said, it brings the quality of life way down.

May have a helpful answer. I have had these problems for a year now. chest pain, shortness of breath, insomnia, fatigue, heart palpitations etc. the dr. said I had anxiety, had all the medical work done with no answer. Today I think I figured it out. If any of you drink diet soda's, iced teas, chew gum, and a few others. Look at the ingredients for aspartame. My symptoms started when I quit tobacco and started chewing lots of bubble tape bubble gum. I hadn't had gum for a few weeks and was feeling better. Then I had some yesterday and felt horrible last night and today. Here is a website you may find interesting. http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/adver se.txt Definitely worth checking out...
