Q: Pain Under Right/centre Ribcage When Swallowing Food

Hi all,
This started after a severe bout of vomiting about a month ago. Had been out, had a few too many drinks (not a common occurence these days) and a late night kebab. Stomach contents was very acidy and i was wretching most of the morning.
Went to the doctors and he put me on a course of Omeprazole 20mg for 2 weeks. That didn't seem to make any difference and I am now on Nexium 20mg and Gaviscon Advance. He is also booking me in for an endoscopy. Some days (like yesterday) I feel like I have turned a corner and the symptoms are going. Other days (like today) I am back to square one and the symptoms are sometimes accompanied by wind (which also causes the pain). The pain is worse when I swallow cold food or liquids, especially on an empty stomach.
Anybody had anything similar? My doctor thinks it's an irritation caused by the vomiting and was suprised when I went back to see him. I have avoided alcohol and spicy food (did try a mild curry one night and regretted it, and had a few beers on Saturday and noticed no difference!) and would like to know what else to avoid, as i have found my doctor very vague when I asked him (avoid spirits, don't over indulge at Christmas, etc) He also didn't test for H. Bacter. Should he have?
Will not get my endoscopy until the New Year and don't want a miserable Christmas worrying about what I can and can't eat, and what my symptoms may mean.
Thanks Confused Dave
