Q: bony swelling after wisdom tooth extraction

I got 2 wisdom teeth removed, both were not "out" in that they had to cut through my gums to get them. One tooth on top came out fine, but one on the bottom had not developed roots so they had to take it out in bits plus a bit of bone I believe (because it was stuck to it).
The top is fine, but the bottom became quite swollen right after the procedure. The "swelling" has gone away now, but there is sort of a "bony" swelling along my jawline that isn't on the other side. It is like swelling but it's hard and only along my jaw.
Is this normal? Could it be an infection?
