Large Lump On My Neck Above My Collar Bone (Page 1)

Supraclavicular lumps can be suspicious for lymphoma. Is it tender or painless? Mobile or fixed? Soft or hard?
I would definately get it checked out. A quick ultrasound is all it takes.

It is painless. The only thing I feel is a bit of pressure there. The lump is now about 2-2.5" wide it is fixed in the same spot it has been in for the last 5 and a half years. It is soft. I am in the midst of getting it checked by a doctor but with HMO insurance I would like to educated myself on the possabilities of what it may be?? I also should say I have a second lump on the other side of my neck same location just smaller. Could this have anything to do with a thyroid problem? The doctor took bloodwork & xray's already that came back negative - and that is great! I guess I dont ask enough questions, What could he be looking for & would the CT scan I go for tomorrow help my doctor find anything out of the ordinary?

Yes a CT scan or ultrasound would tell you loads about what the lumps may be. And as to whether or not it as attached to your thyroid it depends on how low the nodule is. If it isn't on your next but moreso over your clavicle and on your torso then is it probably not from the thyroid.

Fatique, night sweats, weight loss?

I found a lump right above my collar bone. Its moves when it touch it nd is tender. I haventt noticed weight but I have severe night sweats nd fatigue. I
I'm worried.

The lump sits at the base of my neck - and sits right on the collar bone and part of the lump actually covers the collar bone. The only symptoms I may have out of your list is Fatique, I guess I have always felt it was due to having a very busy lifestyle (work full time and run my own side business and have two children in very demanding sports that keep us on the go year round). I have woken up a couple time in the last year feeling sweaty but not dripping wet. I dont know what night sweats are or if what I experience a couple times would be that or not? Instead of weight loss I have gained alot of weight in the past 5 years (I think I have gone from 180-210). Today I was suppose to have my CT scan & someone dropped the ball .... no authorization from insurance company .... so I need to begin again with the process.

Definately sounds more supraclavicular as opposed to part of the thyroid. It doesn't seem like you are having other symptoms thought which is good. WIth night sweats you wake up pretty wet, not just a bit sweaty because the temp is too warm.
I would still get it checked out though.
Not to worry you but a friend of a friend found a lump by his collar bone and was buried the next year. Definately not something to take lightly.

I did get an appointment for tomorrow to have the CT done - the insurance company authorized a chest CT which from what my doctor says includes the clavical/collar bone area. I am definately taking this seriously and I hope that we find out what it is. I will write back when I know more. Thank you for the advice and listening.

okay... i talked to my mom because she works in the medical field and knows about this stuff, she said you should see a doctor.... she also said that it could be a million different things but it also might be a cyst which is NOT cancer.... but you should deffinitely get in to see the doctor! she said it would be good to make an appointment with a dermatologist... hope this helps! let me know how it goes!!!

my daughter 12 yrs old has a small lump above her clavicle as well, more centered in the middle... pea size, 3 dr.'s have said its a cyst, but we are seeing a oncology dr to get a definitive yes or no, from a real expert. i am still scared, but need to know i suppose.

hi everyone, well this is the first time iv wrote on this and at the moment im pretty scared. i have 3 kids, a 16 year old, a 10 year old and my baby who is 18 months. i found a lump on the side of my neck about 6 months ago and went straight to the doc who couldnt really feel it but told me to come back if any change so i did when it got bigger. was then told i was bein reffered to consultant but after 2 months still nothig so i went back and was told i was bein reffered again. so i sit and wait. the lump is about pea size with what feels like soft swelling round about it and recently it is painful in that area. my collar bone hurts now especially when i get up in the morning. im terrified its cancer. has anyone got this or had it? even if its bad news i need to hear other peoples stories. please get in touch

i am 20 years old andabout a month ago i found a lump about the size of bean in my neck at the base of my neck on the left side near the collar bone and recently it has gottten tender in those spots although i admit i am checking constantly to see if i gets bigger i am scared i started reading about lymphoma and i have sweating like you but not soaking wet and also fatigue a real lack of energy maybe unrelated but my left arm also feels numb or tingly sometimes. could i have cancer? i hvent seen a doctor or even taken it serious.... help

I have an enlarging lump above my left clavicle. An ultra-sound detected nothing. Nothing at all. I had an MRI but have not received the results yet.

Anyone else have a similar lump with negative ultrasound?

I recently came down with a sore throat and cold like symptoms. i saw a doctor today and waas given antibiotics and sent on my way. along witht the soreness in my throat, tonsils and jaw area, i have also had a very stiff and teneeer neck for the past few days. after my visit to the doctor, i found a marble sized lump on my neck on the left side about an inch above my collar bone. im concerned it may be something serious, but am hoping it is just a biporduct of this nasty virus i seem to have. im on antibiotics and will see if it gets smaller, but i scheduled an appointment anyway to have it looked at this week. has anyone else who had a lump like this also have strep throat like sympyoms along with it???

Has anyone every heard anything at all about outcomes from anyone who's posted a question on this thread concerning these clavicle lumps?

I to have a lump on my left side on my neck and just above the collar bone. It does hurt when i yawn. No doctors are open today as it's Canada Day so i'll have to wait until tomorrow to see a doctor. I am hoping it's nothing to worry about, as this is the first i have felt it.

Hi my son always got swollen lymp nodes behind the ear every time he got sick up until the age of 2. then it never showed up until now, he is 6 years old now and it showed up i took him 2 the hospital and they gave him antibiotics then 3 weeks later it reacured now they r saying it might be a cyst..

I'm 59. My lump on my left clavical came up over night.
So far I've had rounds of antibiotics, prednisone,more xrays than I can count, MRI, CT scan massage therapy, and have seen 3 doctors. No one knows what it is or why it is there, but next week I see another specialist who most likely is going to tell me that he has never seen anything like it. I've read everything from cancer to don't worry about it.

Hello, have you found out what it is? Same thing happened to me over a year ago and I've seen numerous Drs/specialist, been to the ER, had Ultra sounds, x-rays, CT scan, MRI, numerous blood test, EKG, Echo.......and no one can figure it out. One specialist felt it was a damaged lymph duct from a thyroid lobectomy 2 years ago but MRI came back normal. All Drs see the swelling but no one knows why and or what it is.

I have BUMP on my clavical right side and you can see slight swelling a little above and to the left. throat ultra negative, spleen ultra negative,chest xray negative, blood work negative. well, the bump and swelling are there from somthing is my theory. am going back to doctor jan 25th and will discuss further. I have no fatique, night sweats or weight loss. my daughter in law in chemo for hodgkins found by lump but not like mine. any questions u think I should ask my doctor-I am from canada cat scan and MRI NOT EASY TO GET! My 8 year old son has what the Dr is calling an infected lymph node right about his collar bone. It is about the size and shape of two golf balls put side by side under the skin. He had a fever of 101 but it has gone down to 99 now. The only symptom he had was the enlarged node and a fever. He has been getting tired very easily but we aren't sure if that is part of it or not as he was tired before the node became swollen. This is the first time that node has swelled up. It is painful if touched around it. Hard to the touch. Strep test negative. Thyroid test normal. CRP and ESR levels high indicating inflammation/infection. CT scan of the neck ordered for Friday, won't have results until Tuesday. Hoping it is nothing serious but so far they don't know what is causing it so it is a waiting game.

I found a lump on my neck about nine days ago it is not painful it is about the size of a large marble. It is about 3 inches above the base of my neck at the shoulder and about 3 inches below the back of my ear, right in the middle of the back of my neck. It just came up very sudden did not gradually grow I know this because I have alot of neck pain and rub my hands over my neck several times a day. Im very nervous about it, I just happened to take my daughter to the doctor the same day I found it and she said if its still there in 10 days we need to do a biopsy! its been 8 days and it has not changed any? Does this sound like an infection?

Could be an infection in the lymph node. It also could be a hundred other things at this point. I have one too that isn't painful and the Dr told me that even my seasonal allergies could be keeping it enlarged while I am trying to avoid infection but sometimes my neck gets stiff and hurts so I rub it and thats when I found it. Mine hasn't changed size or shape in a year. Sounds like a needle biopsy might be needed or atleast an ultrasound to get a better idea of what is going on with you. Most of the time it isn't anything serious but there are things like Lymphoma that could cause it too.
