Shocked I am a 27 year old female who is fairly active. I have had 6 previous knee surgeries. 2 right knee scopes, 2 right knee ACL reconstructions, 1 left knee scope, and 1 left knee ACL reconstruction Confused. I was recently walking and my left knee snapped and gave away Surprised. Nevertheless I could barely walk for 3 days. It hurt like hell. I went to my ortho doc( not the one who operated on my knees), I was too embarrassed to tell that doctor that. Well this doc examined my left knee and told me that my ACL was torn Surprised. My left knee is supposed to be my good knee. He took some X-rays and told me that the tunnels that were drilled were not placed in a position that would allow the graft to stick Shocked . He also told me that I had osteoarthritis in my left knee. I know eventually that Ill have to undergo another surgery. I dont want to have another ACL reconstruction, besides ortho doc said it would be to complicated. I was wandering if a proximal tibial osteotomy would be a better alternative? I know Ill have to go back to ortho doc before spring semester starts. Im 99.5% sure how the torn ACL happened.
Need some advice. I have dropped 58 lbs in the past 8 months. So I know that no matter how much I lose it still wont make the pain go away. Still losing though. Help!!!

Osteotomy
I am 33 years old - and have hip dysplasia. I have decided to have a peri-acetabular osteotomy done on my right hip. Many dr's near me wanted to do a replacement - and have had 1 previous hip scope. I don't know much about the knee osteotomy - but from what I have been told about osteotomy's - if they can fix you using your own bone - that is best.
My hip bone will be cut and then moved so that the "ball" fits the way it should in the "socket". The only other alterantive for me is replacement. I already have the osteoarthritis - and if I wait any longer - the osteotomy will not even be an option.
Congrats on the weight loss! I too have lost A LOT of weight. I had my second child 8 months ago. I have lost the 50 I gained with him PLUS 45 LBS!!
The weight loss has not helped my hips any though, although that is what everyone kept telling me!!
My only suggestion is to do lots of research and contact different doctors.

L. Knee ACL Revision Reconstruction
hey Yall: Sorry I hadn't posted in a while. My knee started locking during the holidays, so i went to see my ortho guy. He did an MRI on Dec. 31st. I got the results back on Jan 3rd. The results are as follows: Deficient ACL, extensive wear and tear of the cartilaginous structures, torn medial meniscus, and osteoarthritis. I am scheduled for surgery on March 12th. Keep ya posted.
