Q: Large stomach caused by multivitamins and echinacea for immunity
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 11th, 2007
I've recently started taking a multivitamin, vitamin c, iron and echinacea to help boost my immune system as well as my regular medicines. Could this have anything to do with my stomach getting sooo big?

Current medical status: I have lost 12-13 pounds in a month. My stomach has gotten to look like I am 6 months pregnant. Home pregnancy tests have come out negative. I'm nauseated after eating and sometimes without eating. My period only lasted 2 days this month (not usual). I am regularly going to the bathroom without difficulty.

Current medical treatment: I've been on lisinopril for BP, Glucophage for NIDDM, Prilosec for GERD. I've recently started taking a multivitamin, vitamin c, iron and echinacea to help boost my immune system."

It doesn’t seem likely to me that multivitamins, vitamin c, iron and Echinacea can cause your stomach to become so big. Your stomach may be large due to obesity. On the other hand, obesity may be due to PCOS. You can consult a gynecologist about this condition, request diagnosis and treatment alternatives.
