Unfortunately scleroderma is a chronic, progressive disease that affects almost all organs in the body. Its etiology is unknown and that’s why there is no efficient therapy to treat the skin condition. Doctors can only prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs to help calm the inflammation. If you start taking the other immuno-modulating medicines in addition to prednisone, you may succeed in slowing the progression of the disease.
