Q: What Do You Do to Make Your Self Happy When Your Sad?

I have been having some truble finding something to make me happy lately usualy music does., but its not working. so I was woundering what you guys do to get happy?

Thanks for the question.

I prepare a good meal. I take 1-2 hours to do it right and listen to music while I'm at it.

Also, I don't know if you celebrate Christmas or not, but I love singing along to the carols. They're songs that I know by heart.

If I'm able to, I love to bake cookies when I'm upset. If I can't do that, I usually draw or design something. Just pick what you love and what gives you those warm happy feelings. Maybe something you used to do as a child like color? But, I like to do something that brings up happy thoughts.

Honestly I either clean or snuggle up with a good movie that I know makes me smile. Sometimes I'll end up being snuggled up in my bed all day. The kids come and lay with me and watch movies. Thankfully they don't understand I'm down they just are having fun snuggleing with mom. And that ALWAYS makes me smile!

Thank you guys, i actualy turned on some music that i know used to make me really happy when i was younger, lol it was weird al, and started drawing with my oil pastels, it helped alot!

I go for a walk. It's winter here and when the mood is right, a nighttime walk through slowly falling snow perks me right up!

If I'm depressed and trying to fall asleep, I play the "I'm Thankful" game. You just start listing things you're thankful for. At first they may be very silly and even cynical, like "I'm thankful for toothpaste, I'm thankful a dog didn't pee on me," etc but once you get past that, things start reminding you of other things you're thankful for and soon you get a huge long list and really meaningful thanks. Then you feel good because you think, Wow... I really DO have a lot to be thankful for!

I am impulsive and when I am mad I spend money. Of course this gets old and expensive. So now I just go to the store and look around. Then leave. It sound pathetic but it helps me. I do it mostly so I can just drive somewhere and be alone. Shopping or the though of it seems to clear my head.

Shopping for me too, if I'm near shops. When I'm stressed I get an urge to spend money, usually money I don't have.
Singing also helps me. Put some cheesy pop music on and sing along, or Christmas songs! This doesn't work for me if I'm mad, just occasionally when I'm unhappy. Doesn't always work though but it's fun when it does.

Oh! and I play with my kitten, she's so adorable, and never fails to make me smile.

I either write bout how I feel, clean, or do an exercise video(It's like i'm taking my sadness out on exercise)!!!!!
