I am writing because I have always thought that I am going to die from a terminal cancer or aids, etc....... I do have anxiety and my symptoms are tight throat hard to get a deep breath and always thinking about it. When I am busy and doing things I don't think of it and am usually fine. I do drink alcohol and I think that plays a factor in this but I still always look up symptoms of all cancers and aids etc and get the same type of symptoms of cough and difficulty breathing. I am in great shape and 27 and have always felt like this since High school but worse now in the last 4 years since i was done with college sports and am in the real world with a sales job and stress. just looking for some people who are in my shoes and would appreciate some opinions........I don't have insurance now but went to urgent care and he said all my vital signs are fine and my breathing was fine and heart but i guess i am still worried and that is taking over my life becasue I can't get this out of my head and it is scarry to think about dying....

I Know How You Feel!!!
hey ryan,

I sometimes feel the same way, i can not watch hospital TV shows or movies where people are sick as i straight away think i have the same disease!! At the moment i am suffering from dizziness and a strange feeling of vagueness, and am convinced it is a brain tumor. Doctor says i am fine after doing alot of tests but still cant shake the feeling of something being wrong. Just letting u know u are not alone! Hope you feel better soon!!

You are sure not alone. I have had that phobia for over 4 years now. To the point of someone coughs straight at me I go right into a panic attack. I am immue-compromised and can catch any bug that comes near me. So, I too know how it feels and it is not easy to get over. About two years ago I started leaving the house bit by bit and step by step. It's working.
I just also wanted to mention that every illness you see in my profile had been conclusivly diagnosed and is being treated. Unforutunatly, I really do have them.

I, too, sometimes worry about getting life-threatening illnesses, like cancer and AIDS. It sounds to me like you have a form of an anxiety disorder (the type classified as irrational fears and worries)
seeing a Psychologist will help this, or if you can't do that,I would talk about your fears with your friends and family. Sometimes just talking about it out loud helps put things in perspective. Hope that helps! good luck!
