I'm very confused as whats going on with my ex-gf. When I first met her she was a very happy person. very energetic and outgoing. i'm trying to wonder how to approach the situation now. she was taking orthotricyclen for a month then switched to yasmin. She has changed totally and not to put blame but she broke off our relationship because she found the relationship boring and she lost feelings. this came after stopping the pills for about 3 months. can the pills still be affecting her?

Shes severly depressed now and also very very irritable by all her friends. Can the pill still affect her after she's stopped?

Not this long out, no; but the depression she dipped into may still be affecting her. It's like breaking your arm. The fracture is healed (she stopped the pills) but the arm is still sore (she's still depressed).

At this point, she needs a psychiatrist and possibly mild medication to pull her out of the slump. Heck, she should maybe even go back on Orthotricyclen since it was working so well!

when she was on ortho she was having mood swings as well. the effects were the same when she started yasmin. yasmin just made it even worse. enhanced it.

is that the only way out of it? other meds and psychiatric help?

Unless she can pull herself out of this rut on her own, yes. She's going to need a little help.

Hi Eiri,

Thanks for your insight on whats going on. I know that you are definitely not a medical expert but your advice goes a long way. Is there anything type of solid backing into the what your suggesting? I've tried searching the web for any type of answers and so far you're the only one that has given me insight on the matter.

Again Eiri, your opinion is much appreciated. I would love to see more replies on this matter. I'm sure it's been beaten to a pulp in other posts. Thanks everyone!

I've know depressed people in my life; and none of them got any better unless they got some kind of help. I've tried the "friend support system" thing but if someone is too far gone then they need help that friends can't supply. She may need someone with wide knowledge in psychiatry in order to diagnose exactly why she's still sad despite being off of birth control. Clearly it's something different now that's keeping her "down".
