Heart Rate over 90, very active, always hot....normal?
Posted: 12-10-07 20:37pm

I am a 16 year old male, I play a lot of tennis, usually 1.5-2 hours a day. I work out and am really active. I recently found out that my heart rate is about 95 bpm when sitting and trying to stay calm. I thought that exercise was supposed to make your heart beat slower. At school I was tesing this with a device that my anatomy teacher has. My heart rate never dropped below 90 bpm, except when someone would get very close to me or touch me, then it would drop into the mid 80's. I am trying to find out if this is normal and if my heart might beat faster for some reason. Everyone else's heart rate in my class was lower and did not go above 80. Also I was wondering if this might have something to do with why I am always hot, and why I sweat when I sit still, especially my hands. If I could get some information I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Children over 10 and adults (including seniors) have 60 to 100 beats per minute for resting heart rate.
If the resting heart rate is to be determined, you must have been resting for at least 10 minutes before measuring.
Many things can cause changes in your normal heart rate, including your age, activity level, and the time of day.
Do you take some meds, like meds to treat asthma?
Are you taking stimulants such as caffeine, amphetamines, diet pills, and cigarettes?
Are you stressing and worrying over something?
