Birth Control Problem..new pack?
Posted: 12-10-07 19:54pm

Hi,

So I've been on the pill for about 6 months now. The other day, I got my period, but I'm only two weeks into my pills..I should still have another week and a bit until I get my period. After I got it, I checked my pills and I realized I had forgotten to take two. Is that most likely the reason I got my period early?

And then, I'm wondering, should I start a new pack as though I'm starting from the beginning? Or should I just keep going with the current pack of pills I'm taking??

Thanks for your help.

If you missed two pills for two days and didn't take any those two days then yes, that can cause bleeding if the missed pills just happened.

NO. The only reason to start a new pack would be if you missed 2 pills in the third week. Keep taking your pills. Take two today and two tomorrow in order to catch up. If you had sex on the second day you forgot a pill you could be pregnant but the fact that you're bleeding says otherwise.

You also need to use protection for one week past the days you forgot the pills.

Thank you so much for your response! I'm glad to know that I should stick with the same pack that I'm on (I was going to start a new pack but I thought maybe I should ask for some advise first).

Thanks again for the advise. Smile
