Q: Extremely Painful periods

Okay, I'm 16 years old and I have EXTREME PAIN when I have my period. My lower back is killing me and it hurts to even get up and walk. The pain is absolutely unbearable. Its even made me throw up a couple of times, and I've also had diarrhea. I told my mom and she just told me to take some Tylenol. I did, but it doesn't help. This has gone on ever since I first got my period when I was 11. Does anyone have any advice or answers?! I'd really appreciate it. Crying or Very sad

id advise talking to a doc (even your normal doc) they should know how to help, it may be as simple as birth control it can help with out of control periods, its not just for people having sex

My friend had the same problem. She suffered terribly during her menstral cycle. It was so bad that she had to miss school the first couple of days of her period.

I would suggest you talk to your doctor about it.

Have you tried a hot bath or a heating pad?

Birth control pills would help a lot. They make periods lighter and give you fewer cramps Smile

I suggest a heating pad and PAMPRIN (not tylenol, that weak stuff doesn't do a damn thing!) for right now.

I also suggest birth control as a long-term solution since it does indeed lighten the flow and lessen pain.

I know how you feel, because I too have extreme period pain. I have also vomited (numerous times) because the pain was so excruciating. I used to have to take pamprin as soon as I noticed cramps because if I didn't, I would be bedridden for 2 hours. I've missed school due to my cramps.

Then I got on Orthotricyclen Lo. The pain became so manageable I didn't even have to take pamprin at ALL!! It was really a godsend after dealing with painful cramps since about age 16 until age 20. Four years of agony once a month... I wish I'd known sooner Smile
