I'm up at 1 am having contractions again. This totally sucks. I've done absolutely nothing today and they still won't stay away. I haven't even been able to wean my medication down to every six hours. I'm having to take it every 3 1/2 and 4 hours. I'm just so tired and needed to vent. If she doesn't quit putting pressure down I'm going to go crazy. I started spotting again too. This just sucks. I really hope I don't keep having contractions tonight. I hope even more that I haven't already dilated anymore but I'm so afraid that I have. The pressure's just gotten so bad. I'm sorry if this is a self-pitying post. I just am really upset and didn't know what else to do.

Aw I'm really sorry to hear that you're having contractions again! I can't even imagine how you must feel. Sad Drink lots of water if you aren't already, and if they keep up, go to the hospital.

I hope they stop soon for you.

I will keep you both in my prayers. When do you think you will make a trip to labor and delivery again? I personally would go pretty soon. I would want to know about dilation. If they sense the baby will come early, can they give you steroids? I heard that a even a few days on steroids, can help the baby with lung development. I would personally ask about this. I am sure they thought of everything, hopefully.

Please keep us updated.

Definitely drink water and stay on bedrest. Did they instruct you to be on bedrest at all?

Im so sorry girl!
thats got to be awful. I agree with Karin.. Go to the hospital. If you were in labor they could give the baby steriods if they have enough time to help with the lungs. It never hurts to air on the side of caution.

I hope your feeling better and getting some sleep!

Hey girls! I'm here. I didn't go in last night. I kept taking my meds and trying to sleep though. If they keep up during the day I'm going in. Last time I went, they stopped when I got in the back. That is so freaking embarrassing (sp-sorry I can't think straight). I asked about steroids the second time I went in and my doc didn't want to give them to me yet. They don't want to give them unless they are for sure you will deliver within the week. I just have a feeling that she's not staying in there for much longer. The meds worked for a few days and it's starting all over again just like last week. I'm gonna start timing them and writing it down before I go back in. My doc said to wait until I'm having more than 8 in an hour. That kinda shocked me that he would want me to wait that long. I hope I can at least make it to the end of this week. One thing that helped me be a little more optimistic was that last week there was another girl there due at about the same time. She said she had her last son at 32 weeks and was given the steroids. He was able to come home just 1 day after her. Of course I want my little girl to stay if she needs to but I would like her to wait so that she doesn't have to

Why on earth would you NOT go in to the hospital, sweetie? That would be the FIRST place I'd go. Hell, I'd even LIE about how many contractions I was having.

Suffering at home is not the way to go.

I'm really glad the woman who had her baby @ 32 weeks was able to take her baby home. But that isn't the ONLY risk premie babies have. There are other issues, developmental issues that may not show up for years. The birth is only the begining. Premie babies are at risk for many illnesses - especially during their first year, like RSV, ear infections and colds.

Do whatever you can to keep that baby inside of you Wink Have you considered seeing another doctor?

I know about all the risks. All I used to deal with was my patients on the peds floor. A lot of which were the result of premature births coming in with the various infections that otherwise wouldn't bother another child. We even had a 36 weeker that had only been home for a few days the first three months of his life. His lungs just weren't done developing. I'm not saying I want this baby to come early. I'm just frustrated. The last time I went in and the contractions stopped they did nothing but send me home. I'm on procardia at home right now because my doc doesn't like sending you home on brethine. I really don't understand that. One of the nurses said some people have be on both of the meds at home. I really think that's probably what I need. For the now the contractions are irregular. If they do get regular again, I will go in. I'm just really frustrated right now. I don't want her to come this early. All I'm doing now is lying in bed watching tv. I'm also at home alone. I can call my sister in law if I need to go in though. I may call L&D and tell them what's going on and see what they say.

Well, we've kinda been toying with that idea. All my ultrasounds measured up perfectly though. He set my due date based on my first ultrasound and those measurements. From what I understand those are pretty accurate. I just called L&D and they told me to page my doctor and do what he says. I already know what he's said. He said if I have more than 8 an hour to go in. I'm just so frustrated now that I want to cry. How fair is it to go through all these contractions and hope my water doesn't break or that I'm not dilating anymore. I'm just at a loss right now. I know my mom knows what I'm going through. She did the same thing with me and my little bro. She just laid down whenever she started feeling bad since she didn't work. I just want to cry right now. I love you girls and I'm glad you're here for me. I've trusted my doctor for so long and he did such a good job with my sister in law through all three of her pregnancies. I hate that I feel like I don't trust him anymore. I do in a sense. I just don't understand why he didn't already give me the steroids. Some things I've read said that some doctors will give them to the mother every week if they're having problems with preterm labor.

If I do that though and they hook me up to the monitors it will basically be a wasted trip. They will send me right back home. I just don't understand why they are doing this. The other girl that was 30 weeks was bleeding and dilating and since she wasn't dilated "enough" they sent her home too.

Yeah, that's really what happened last time. We spent an hour there and then got sent home. Then the nurse tried to make how much I was dilated seem like it was nothing. First, she was like I might call you 1-2 but I didn't want to push in any further since you're early anyways. Then she came back and said yeah you're a fingertip. Well, fool a fingertip is 1 and quit changing your story. I know my stuff. The night before they told me they could feel her head. We have a 3-d ultrasound scheduled for Thursday as long as we have the money so we will be able to see where we are on her growth. If it doesn't go away in the next little bit I'm going to call someone to take me in. Forget my doctor. I've quit calling him before I go in. It's really hard for me to count my contractions too because I didn't even know that's what was going on the first time. The pain was just constant.

Nope. I've been drinking so much water too that my pee is absolutely clear. They checked my urine once at the hospital but since then when they see what it looks like they don't even bother.
