i have a few questions at 4:30 am full of regret and guilt.... i was an intense cocaine user for about 6 months went to rehab for another 6 months and relapsed for the 1st time since i left rehb 5 months ago. as im aware of the fact that ive had intense using dreams for the past few months and and hve been feeling a downer coming on in general what can u suggest that is not AA based, yet is another efficient road to PERMANENT sobriety? or at least something to get my mind off of it when the cravings come along!!

Congratulations. Sometimes relapse is part of the healing process. Relapsing once in 6 months is not bad. You are doing an excellent job and just keep doing it. Over the next 6 monts the memories of the coke will start to fade. Hang in there, girl!

sometimes antianxiety medication is good to take the edginess away. Speak to a doctor about it, because some people don't beliieve in taking any form of medication. Just a supply for a month and then you must only use it when really necessary!

I Know What You Mean...
I was drunk for 3 years straight, got sober just recently and was sober for 3 months...2 days ago I went out and got drunk. I dont know why I did it, but something inside me sparked and I wanted it again. Tonight I am now trying very hard not to go down the street for some more beer.

I am keeping myself busy, soing anything and everything else other than drinking.
Exercise, typing on here, trying to study, playing guitar, etc. Pick up a book and tell yourself you can put it down after you read 50 pages. Whatever works.

there are specific groups for people recovering from cocaine. their title isnt that different from the one group you mentioned however they can relate with some people in a way that other fellowships do do.And butterfly is right... relapse is not a failing in what you are doing to stop a negitive process, but a part of the process you are working toward stopping...... the dreams totally stop after some time, Treat them like the ghost of Christmas past... a reminder in the night of what life was or could be like and the morning relief and boost of motivation to insure that you day is different

1. Try to not hang out with peers that drink.
2. If you live near a bar, caution!
3. If you feel a relapse coming on, please start local AA group with a sponser (you know you need to work them 12 steps. Not that you gonna like it but, it's part of recovery.
4. If you have a computer, to to word pad and in # 20 or more text, type out the serenity prayer and frame it. Put it one in your wallet and one in your home in an area where you spend most of your time.
5. Have will power! You CAN do it!
