I am 19 yrs. Old and was diagnosed with depression about 3 yrs. Ago. I am now having more severe symptoms and think that maybe I might be experiencing bipolar disorder. There are some days when I wake up at 3 in the morning and am ready to go and start cleaning house and doing weird things. But, there are other days where I just want to lay in bed and not do anything because I feel as if the world is against me and nobody loves me. Please help me solve my problem. Thanks.

Hi lyn,
i'm new here, too. This could be a sign of bipolar disorder. The best thing you can do is find a reputable psychiatrist to evaluate you. You would think one would be as good as another. They aren't. Make sure they have knowledge of this disorder. Go online and do some research. You will recognize symptoms or not. Here is one site to start with.
Good luck! Nicci

Are you on any medications for depression? Sometimes I feel the same way where i'm in the greatest mood and suddenly I feel that everyone hates me. It may or may not be bipolar. There are many different types of things even such as multiple personality disorder which is a little different but you should be reviewed by a doctor and if you are on medication have it checked as well. Good luck!

My name is heather. All my life I have had depression. I was bulemic for 6 years. At the age of 26 they said my depression was bipolar disorder. Sometimes the symptoms get muddled together. If a therapist only hears about the depression part and does not here about the crazy shopping spress when you have bills to pay or up and deciding to paint your room at 3 in the morning then yes you can be misdiagnosed. The therapist needs to hear everypart of your life. Only after two suicide attempts did the doctor figure that out. Now life is good! With the carbotrol, which is a mood stabilizer, I don;t go from manic to depressed very often. It is almost strange not to be up and down all the time.
