Shortly after I got the depo prevera shot, I developed a knot on the inside of my left knee. I was under the impression I bumped into something not realizing it. Then it got bigger, and more sore. Just over the following weekend, I developed about 10 smaller knots on both legs, both knees are swollen,my ankles, too have littles knots on them and are so swollen that I cannot tie my shoes. When I sit for any period of time, the pain is so bad that it brings me to tears, and I need assistance getting up, but if i'm up and about they get sore, almost like a burning feeling. I cant bend my knees very well, god-forbid I need to move quickly for any reason!
All of my joints are sore, down to my knuckles. I called my obgyn and asked her, she seems to think that it's water retention, caused by depo but the knots are hard and they're, maybe a small marble sized, and they are red and warm to the touch....It's like, my joints are so stiff at time that no matter how hard I try, if I am down, I can not for the life of me, get up...Does that sound like a depo side affect????

I Was On Depo
I was on the depo shot for 3years and I hated it I was always getting muscle cramps especially on my arms and I was always swollen like if I was pregnant. I finally got off of it after three years because I got tired of always going in and gaining ten pounds I was weighing 120lbs when I started and stopped once I got to 150lbs I gained lots of weight and they always said oh it happens when you get older but I knew it was that shot because everytime I went I gained 5-10lbs how can you do that so quickly. Well now that ive been off of it my periods are irregular and I just recently had a miscarriage im not sure if thats a side effect or long term effect but I heard and read that when you get off depo it usually takes about 2years to get your body back to normal and be able to have a baby. If I were you id switch but I dont know everyones body is different. Let me know if this is similar to your situation.
