So, my doctor called me today numerous times and insisted that I need to come in and see her TODAY. I have an appointment in an hr and half (5:30).

Apparently my platelet levels have dropped below 50,000...they're at 46,000 as of Monday. It's dangerous to go into labor with such low platelet counts, because of the increased risk of bleeding. So I have to go in tonight to get a steriod injection and then again tomorrow.

Needless to say, they have to postpone my induction until Sunday morning at 7:30am, so that they can hopefully get my levels back above 50,000. Crying or Very sad

I have no clue why they dropped back down!! They have been going up the last few weeks, and last week they were at 88,000 and they dropped almost double that in one week. Ah, this just frusterates me. I had planned on being induced tomorrow, told my work and my teachers, and had planned on coming back the 2 days next week for finals.

Now I'll be in the hospital until probably Tuesday or Wednesday, so somehow I have to get a hold of my teachers and see if I can take my finals at the end of next week.

This just sucks! Crying or Very sad

Your doctor is only doing whats best for you and a few more days in there for dante wont hurt him. Things like this happen for a reason...hes just not ready yet!!! Smile

Who would have though that we would be getting induced on the same day!!!! Shocked

Sorry that you now have to wait until Sunday but at least now you don't have to worry about Dante being born on the 6th. But you never know maybe he will decide to make an appearance on his own before Sunday. Did you ask the doctor what would happen if you did go into labor on your own? Would it be risky because of your platelet levels?

She said that if I happened to go into labor on my own before Sunday that they "wouldn't be too worried" because supposeably all my platelets are young so they would do a better job at clotting then if they were older. I just hope he stays in there until Sunday so I don't have to worry. Very Happy
