About seven weeks ago, I had a typical flu-like virus that left me with extreme fatigue, swollen glands in my neck, and white spots on my tonsils. The spots on my tonsils and swelling in my throat never completely went away. Both the strep culture and the mono blood test came back negative.
Ten days ago, I fell sick again with a new acute illness. I have a variety of symptoms: fever of 100-102 degrees fahrenheit, runny nose, very sore throat (i feel like screaming whenever I swallow), productive cough with thick green mucus, hoarse voice (almost can't talk), and redness/crusting of the eyes -- in addition to swollen, white-spotted tonsils. The individual who gave me this new illness was very sick for about ten days but now he is fine. My condition, however, only seems to be getting worse.
I'm going to pay a visit to an ent specialist in a couple days. In the meantime, can anyone venture a guess as to what's going on with me? Thanks.
Update: I saw the ent yesterday and he put me on augmentin. I have a follow-up appointment in a few weeks. He thinks I got a secondary bacterial sinus infection on top of viral tonsillitis. Thanks for your comments.
