Q: Slight Pain On Other Side of Groin to Hernia

I have an inguinal hernia on the right side, having the operation on 18 December 2007.
But recently I have felt a slight pain on the left side, but I cannot detect a hernia there. I did the cough test and did not feel any lump or bulge, there is no sign of a hernia there, and the pain comes and goes.
I do sometimes feel a bit sore or a slight pain where the hernia is. I am guessing that this is caused by the pressure of the hernia on nerves.
But could the hernia pull on nerves to create pain on the opposite side?
Or could this be another hernia developing?

Update: Today I went to see the doctor and explained about the pain on the left side of my groin. He examined me and could not detect anything, no second hernia (which I thought might have been the cause), and he could not find anything else wrong. The pain comes and goes, and is not too intense or painful. I can only guess it is related to the existing hernia or just a nerve being stressed or something?
