Help! I have recently had 3 fainting episodes and can't figure out why? They they are usually proceeded by slight nausea in the stomach then possible light headedness or a spacing feeling in the head and profuse sweating. Each time I have passed out for less then 30 seconds before regaining conciousness.
My doctor has done a blood sugar test which was normal. An adrenal (saliva) test was slightly low so he gave me some cortisol supplements. I don't know if this is it because I have had an episode since. Sometimes before and after these episodes I feel very fatigued.
I regulary exercise and never have an issues while excersising, these events have happened not only while standing but also in the sitting position. I have never had this problem before, it seems to have started within the last 6 months.
Fainting (Syncope) AND Fatigue - Reply to previous post
I, too, developed fits of fainting followed by fatigue. In my case, despite what seemed like every medical test known to man, my doctor's were unable to find a definitive cause. The episodes come in batches with periods of months between them and do not seem linked to any external or environmental factors. The "best guess" given to me was that it was linked to a random drop in blood pressure which only slowly reverses itself (the initial fainting occurs at the point where the blood pressure is at its lowest and the fatigue which follows for 24-36 hours is the slow recovery time after which all is normal again with no residual physical evidence or effects).
I realise that I have essentially told you "No one knows why", but hopefully just knowing that you are not the only one with this condition will serve as some comfort.
Good luck! And if you find an answer I would love to hear about it.
