Q: Dr Ponseti..

Jacob has an appointment with him this Friday!

OMG this is just..
*sigh*

a HUGE relief off my shoulders.

Oh lol. sorry..
Dr Ponseti is the doctor that pioneered the treatment for clubfoot called the Ponseti Method.. Hes AMAZING.

(taken from an article about him...)

" No infant whose treatment for clubfoot has begun at the UI has needed ligament release surgery for the condition later. On the other hand, parents whose children have suffered from unsuccessful treatment elsewhere have come to Iowa for corrective surgery or treatment with the Ponseti Method."

Which is AWESOME.
Jacobs tendon has started getting tighter lately and it concerns me, and since we're only 2 hours away from Dr Ponseti himself, we're going to see him Friday. He ALWAYS corrects what shady ignorant doctors mess up. And the doc that Jacob had before was an idiot.. and didnt treat his foot the right way and Dr Ponseti wants to look at him.

Jacobs clubfoot was atypical, and the doctor he saw in Orlando was ignorant and refused to treat it as such.. so it never got 100% corrected.

Im apart of a clubfoot forum, a place where a lot of parents of kids with clubfoot belong and post stories and support, and they ALL say that when one doctor messes up, Dr Ponseti has ALWAYS fixed it within 1 or 2 casts.. and hes (literally) the best clubfoot doctor in the WORLD haha thats AWESOME.

Haha i know this seems insignificant but its like, so awesome to me.. to know that FINALLY a doctor that i know 100% knows what hes doing (because he invented the treatment for it lol) is going to be treating his foot.. and thats AWESOME.

ok enough AWESOMEs.

^_^

His foot is fine.. he walks flat on it and everything, it just doesnt bend UP like it should because his tendon is really tight..

here i'll show you the dif between his feet...

This is his left foot.. it has normal dorsiflexion..

and this is his right foot..

it cant be pushed as far up as it should.. because the doctor never treated his tendon correctly.

My sister was born club foot. Her feet were competly turned in at birth. Shes 32 now and been through 8 surgerys!! She learned to crawl and walk in a cast! She had surgery on her foot almost 2 years ago to straighten out the tendon. It was done with a laser and keft hardley any scars unlike her other surgeries. My sister needs to have that done on her other foot now but she say shes not going to because of the pain and her kids.

Im sorry about Jacob. I seen what this has done to my sister and wouldnt wish that on anyone. Im so glad hes going to get this straighten out before he gets any older because he wont remember any of it and he doesnt have anything to do just lay back and let mommy take care of him! Smile

That looks like the pics of my sisters when she was born!!! She walks perfect now she just needs on last surgery on her tendon on her left foot. She looks normal She just has alot of scars on her feet.

Sandra did the doctor tell you why he was born clubbed foot? When my mother had my sister they told her it was because my mother was so small. And that cant be the reason. My sister never got a true answer either

nope.. it ran out at the end of last month since he was no longer an employee there. SO the kids are on Healthy kids? i think its called.. until Jan 1st when the benefits from his new job kick in.

Nancy.. no it doesnt hurt him. His foot is fine, his tendon is just way too tight so it doesnt have as much give as his other foot does, which is what we want to address.

That doctor's name sounds familiar. I'm really glad Jacob is able to see him and get his foot taken care of.

Good luck on Friday
