Q: severe pain after root canal

I had bridgework down last year. The dentist did 2 root canals (bottom rear-most molars and put in the bridge. About two weeks ago I began suffering excruciating pain when eating or drinking anything hot came in contact with the rear portion of the bridge. I don't understand how, with no nerve in the tooth, I can feel anything there. I have an appointment in two weeks, but wondering if anyone has experienced this. Could they have missed part of the root?? If so, does the bridge have to come out in order to correct the problem? thanks
