I couldn't believe I am not the only one who have a lump on the shine bone. My lump does hurt unless I press it. No bruise mark. Can't remember how I got it and may be due to carry heavy luggagges up staircases during a trip last month. Hope you all well.

I have a lump on my leg
First of all, thank you to all who have posted some great info about this. I too have a small lump on my inner thigh and finally got enough courage to go see my Doctor. My Doc said that it was benign and gave me some great tips that you can try for yourself. He indicated that when you think of cancer think of crabs. Crabs have claws and a hard shell. When you are feeling over your lump, try to see if it moves around under the skin or if it clings to it like a crab would with it's claws. The second thing to check for is if it feels like soft tissue or a hard shell. Mine didn't have a hard shell and the Dr. was able to classify it as a fatty deposit. These are good tips that you can use for yourself but I highly recommend that you go see an Doctor to make sure. Thanks

Painful lump on knee and shin
I too have 2 painful lumps. The first came out just on the bottom portion of my left knee on the front and then the 2nd one came out about a week later on the front of my right shin. At first they were just a bump but then they got red and are extremely tender!!! I tried the moist heat as recommended here and it does help with the pain but does not make them go away. I just got a new doctor and showed them to her. She really was absolutely no help. She said it looks like a dermatitis.... no it is not! It is a bump under my skin that moves around and is very very painful to the touch. I still cannot kneel on my left knee (it has been about 1 month) even though the lump has subsided mostly on the knee. My right shin is still so painful. I am going to see a different doctor in the practice next week if this does not go away by Monday, which I doubt. I saw on google info about adipose tissue this sounds like some of the symptoms. Thanks for the info about cancer lumps and crab claws.... mine do not feel hard and definitely move. This at least was encouraging and way more helpful than what I got from my doc. What kind of specialist would you go to for this kind of problem? Thanks to all who posted.

hard lump on shin
i have a hard lump to the left of my shin on my right leg, a slightly large, hard one, and a smaller one that isn't very noticable. I developed another within the past week, this time on my right arm so I have 3 and I read through all these and no one came back to tell what happened. I'm going to come back and tell and i actually will, everyone says they will and then seem to disappear. I have an apt tomorrow I hope I get a biopsy or something, I'll post when I know what's up so maybe if someone sees this they'll get some help like what I, and others were looking for but couldn't find...

it does scare me because the lumps are hard and they don't seem to move but it's hard to tell. Sad

Leg Cyst
I noticed a small pea sized lump on the inside of my left calf in the beginning of June.
I didn't think much of it, I thought it was a mosquito bite or a bug bite, since it was summer time.
As time went on I noticed this pea sized lump was growing, which alarmed me, but not to the point of calling the doctor. I put it on the back burner for now.
In October this thing really grew! It was the size of a Progresso soup can and I was freaking out!
I went to see my dr., he sent me to get an M.R.I., and then the revolving door of dr.'s to get diagnosed.
I ended up going out of town to see a specialist just to get a diagnosis.
She looked at the M.R.I. and wanted a biopsy of the foreign object growing in my leg.
Well that was easier said than done. That thing in my leg was as hard as stone! And the harder she tried to get a piece of it for a biopsy, the more it hurt, and all I wanted was for her to stop chipping away at this thing in my leg.
finally a piece came off about the size of your pinky toe nail, which isn't much, but I didn't care.
A surgery date was set for January 14, 2011 to get this thing out before the results are back.
The "C" word came out and it runs in my both sides of my family. So i'm scared I may have it.
I'm no stranger to surgery, or cysts.
I had an aracnoid cyst in my brain which is shunted and an brain tumor that is un-operable in my brain. I had cysts on my ovaries which one was removed when I had my hysterctomy.
I'm worried I may have tumors or cysts in my breasts now.
I've been through hell and back in my life already, and so have my two sons.
I don't think I can take much more. I have been through 17 surgeries already, and now this!
If anyone else has been through something similar, please contact me, i'm having a hard time dealing with all this.
I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Hard knot behind leg upper part can't see sore to touch
I found a hard knot under the skin on the upper part of my right leg Dec. 22 2010. I don't remember hitting it. You cant see it but you can feel it.Sore to the touch and the size of a marble.I went to the doctors and they gave me a ultrasound and I found out it's a cyst.It went down a little thank God...... I was told to put a ice pack and heat on it. The ice pack helps the most....

Painful lumps/bumps
I have had hundreds of these bumps on my body over the past 4 years. They hurt to the touch, much like a bruise would. They appear on my arms and legs. Often on my shin bone or whatever the arm equivalent is. They are not red or any other color. They are hard like a cyst. Some stay for days, some stay for months. The first time I went to the doctor 4 years ago the doctor said it was a fat deposit or whatever and it would go away. They did go away, but more Would appear. 2 years later I went again and told them I'd had lots of them and that they hurt. He told me I was lying and probably just looking for prescription pain killers. I was very insulted and haven't gone back since. I'm not much for going to the doctors, but now I'm in a lot of pain once again, so I'll go back soon. I often start getting these painful cysts at the beginning of winter. Anybody reading this think they have the same thing as me?

I have a lump on my shin that seems to be growing too. There is no "bruise" but it seems quite red in colour. Very painful to touch, and seems to be getting worse. I banged my leg on a drawer in early December but this bruise only come up last last week.
I had Erythema Nodosum when I was 17 which was caused by starting taking the contraceptive pill which I no longer use. This appears like the early stages, but not progressing as quickly.
This lump is starting to worry me too. If it does not show any signs of going away by the end of the weekend, I may also go see someone about it. Would LOVE if people would post how they are going with these things? Have they gone? Got worse?

Lump-like mass above my knee
I have been worried for weeks now. (I am a woman) It may be nothing - and I've never had health problems, in fact I very rarely even get sick. About three inches above my left knee it looks like a lump-like mass has formed. At first it looked like the muscle above my knee seemed a bit bigger = but then, while rubbing my legs one day at work, I felt that my left leg had a defined lump-like mass - much bigger than the right leg. Now, when I look at it, it is quite noticeable. It doesn't hurt - when i press down on it, it might feel a bit uncomfortable, but that is it. It is about 3" by 3" in length and width - maybe bigger. Could this be something to be concerned about? I am average weight - but my legs have always been on the thicker side - and I do have cellulite - sometimes above the knee..? I will say that I am a bit of a drinker - I have a drink after work at least every night - sometimes two..?

I went to the doc for my bump back in sept 2009, she did ultra sound and found nothing, but the bump is still there and now I have a second one, it is still tender to the touch and hurts if you really push on it, time for a follow up. This started after I started using the Wii, who knows, we'll see.

Painful lump on forearm 2 years
I have one on my arm. Every time I go to the sink and lay my arm down I have to scream in pain. Doctor aspirated but its been there for 2 years. Its small like a pea and doesn't seem to be connected to bone or muscle, but trying to avoid hitting the bump when I wash dishes is almost impossible. I would like to ask the doctor to just cut it out, but I don't know if that is the best route.

Hi thandi21, Im' exactly the same as you. My Dad was also very thin and had a lump on his leg, I cant ask him because he passed away last year. I find that if I stand up and tense my leg the bump becomes more prominent and visibly sticks out. It's soft, same colour as my skin, so almost invisible, and painful when something rubs against it. If you find out what it is let me know!

I have a soft lump about 3 inches long and about 2 inches wide. It is very tender to the touch. I do not have any lumps anywhere else on my body. First I thought it may be cellulitis then I thought maybe Erythema Nodosum but it is none of those. Since I do not have insurance they will not do a biopsy unless I pay up front the 4800.00. I do not have the money so I guess I will just have to watch it grow and see if it kills me. I gues if that happens the autopsy will tell what it was unless they want me to pay for that up front too
